The Great American Bash returns on tonight’s NXT 2.0 where we will see the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships defended as well as Tiffany Stratton taking on Wendy Choo. This pay-per-view dates back to NWA in the 80s, went through years in WCW, and eventually became a WWE product in 2004.
In 2020 after eight years without the event being showcased, it was brought to the NXT brand and is ready for its third annual show. Before we get to see the spectacle tonight, let’s rewind a bit and check out the first women’s match to ever take place at The Great American Bash. Sable vs. Torrie Wilson.
Wilson essentially became the spokesperson for The Great American Bash appearing on the poster for the event and on the cover of SmackDown magazine as well. This did not sit well with Sable and despite them just teaming together at WrestleMania XX. Sable turned heel in a backstage segment that turned into a physical altercation over her jealousy of Wilson.
The match itself was given just over six minutes and after both women run into each other head first, Sable pretended to be hurt only to roll up Wilson with the School Girl for the victory.
Check back in with Diva Dirt later today to join in on the NXT 2.0 Discussion Post for The Great American Bash.
