Ronda Rousey Wins SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania Backlash

Ronda Rousey is the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. This ends Charlotte Flair’s reign at 198-days.

For WrestleMania Backlash, Rousey challenged Charlotte Flair in an “I Quit” match after failing to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. The fight was taken all over the arena including through the fans and on the stairs in the audience.

At one point the two women entered into a duel of kendo sticks on the stage before Rousey was able to grab both weapons and chase Flair back down to the ring. Both women were asked throughout the match if they would utter the words “I Quit” but both were resilient even when screaming in pain.

The final moments of the match came when both women were in the ring with a steel chair. Flair told Rousey that this was her last chance and wished her a Happy Mother’s Day. Rousey reaches through the chair and locks in the armbar. Flair refused to say “I Quit” at first before Rousey strengthens the hold.

Flair finally says “I Quit” and Rousey wins the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time in her career.

Later in the night, Kayla Braxton gave an update on Flair. She reports that after speaking with medical, Flair has a fractured radius.

This was the only women’s match on the WrestleMania Backlash card. Rhea Ripley appeared during the event joining Edge with the Judgment Day faction. You can read more on that by clicking here.
