Saraya promises to bring change to AEW’s women’s division, and she’s starting with a lumberjack match.
Following her shocking debut at Dynamite: Grand Slam, Saraya spoke for the first time on this week’s Dynamite. While there was no clarification of her in-ring status, she mentioned early on that she’s “damaged, but not broken.”
Saraya made bold statements by claiming she โis the revolutionโ and that sheโs here to bring change to AEWโs womenโs division. She invited the womenโs locker room to the ring, including Toni Storm, Athena, Skye Blue, Madison Rayne, and Willow Nightingale.
Toni Storm was praised by Saraya before Britt Baker, flanked by Jamie Hayter, Rebel, and Penelope Ford, interrupted and called Saraya a โshiny new toy.” Baker made digs at Sarayaโs neck and the pronunciation of her name. This led Saraya to point that Brittโs name rhymes with โsh*t.โ
Saraya revealed that Toni Storm vs. Serena Deeb would now be contested as a lumberjack match for the first time ever, noting that โitโs good to have a boss that finally listensโ to her.
The AEW Interim Women’s Championship was put on the line immediately after the segment with the lumberjacks already at ringside. At one point, Willow chased Hayter out of the arena. Shortly after, Storm put away Deeb with an avalanche piledriver and pinned her for the three-count. The bout clocked in around eleven minutes.
As a result of their interactions during the lumberjack match, Willow Nightingale and Jamie Hayter will go one-on-one this Friday on Rampage.
