Sasha Banks gets emotional over headlining WrestleMania – “This is crazy because it’s bigger than me” *UPDATE*

UPDATE: Stephanie McMahon confirmed earlier today on the Bill Simmons podcast that Banks vs. Belair would be headlining Night One. Furthermore, WWE has just posted that the WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre will be first on Night One.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and her WrestleMania challenger Bianca Belair will be making history this weekend regardless of placement on the event’s card.

It will be a first to see two African-American women in a championship match on the biggest show in the wrestling industry. What would make it even larger is if they were the main event. This would make them only the second women’s match to main event a WrestleMania in history.

As of this week’s Monday Night RAW, it was believed that Drew McIntyre and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley would main event Night One – the night that the SmackDown Women’s Title is on the line. This may not end up being the case as McIntyre has stated that he is perfectly fine opening the show instead. WWE hasn’t officially name Banks vs. Belair as the main event at the time of this writing.

While speaking with Token CEO, Banks had the following to say in regards to the biggest match of her career:

“I’ve been crying all morning. It’s Monday, WrestleMania is on Saturday. I can’t believe this 10-year-old girl is about to live her dream and main event WrestleMania, I truly believe that. To see someone like Bianca Belair, who is brand new and just came into the game. She won the Royal Rumble, she’s so athletic and so incredible. She is the future of WWE, and so am I, I’m younger, don’t forget. At WrestleMania, we will be main eventing. This is my first singles match at WrestleMania and it’s the first time it’s two African-American women will be headlining WrestleMania. This is crazy because it’s bigger than me. The beautiful thing is, everything I’ve done with WWE, not only has it been for me, but it’s been bigger than me because of the impact it’s made on so many amazing people all over the world of every color and race. I’m letting it all sink in. I’ve been calling my friend Bayley all morning, ‘Oh my God, I’m freaking out.’ I’m so thankful.”
