Skye Blue is geared to return to the ring on the May 14 episode of AEW Dynamite. She has been out of action for nearly a year with a leg injury. The 25yo speaks with Q101 and explains she considered retirement following the injury. However, her boyfriend and fellow AEW talent Kyle Fletcher was there for her when she needed him the most.
“[Retirement] definitely crossed through my head a bunch of times, especially at night when I couldn’t sleep and it’d be like 4 in the morning. There were times where I would have to lay with my leg straight because if I moved it, I was just in pain.
But this one (Kyle Fletcher) was the best because he’d be like ‘No, tell those voices to shut up because you’re gonna wrestle, you’re not gonna just sit on this couch and mope.’ He was by far the biggest supporter I could’ve ever asked for.”
Blue will be taking on Mina Shirakawa, NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion AZM, and AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm in a four way championship eliminator match this Wednesday.
