After an eventful Double or Nothing this past weekend, we double down again with both AEW Dynamite and Collision tonight.
Renee Paquette is backstage with The Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayter, and Alex Windsor. Hayter isn’t too upset about her loss at Double or Nothing, as long as she takes the head off of AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla. Windsor is now set to face off against a wildcard in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. She wants to win this tournament and take it back home to Wembley Stadium.
In tag team action tonight, Tay Melo and Anna Jay, TayJay, take on Ava Everett and Allie Katch. TayJay says that they’re the original tag team within AEW and set their sights toward the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships, which the Divine Dominion holds. TayJay scores a quick win over these local competitors and hopes it sends a message to the tag champs.
The Divine Dominion is not impressed, and we soon see TayJay unconscious backstage. This Saturday on Collision, TayJay will face the Divine Dominion in a five-minute Eliminator match.
After both coming up short this past weekend, Kris Statlander is fully aware that it was Hikaru Shida who hit her with a kendo stick. Statlander now faces Shida in an unsanctioned Lights Out Philly Street Fight, and it’s safe to say that this “friendship” is over.
Classic Shida brings the kendo stick into play as she beats Statlander around the ring, and with an apple at hand. Statlander fights back as she powerbombs Shida from the apron to the floor. They head backstage, and Shida fights through to hit a suplex on a barricade.
Shida comes out with a bicycle and runs over Statlander’s hand and flings it straight at her. She’s completely taken over as she suplexes Statlander into a chair propped into the corner. More chairs are introduced as both end up landing on the steel from the top rope.
Statlander flings a chair directly towards Shida’s head as she escapes out of the ring. Shida is busy propping up chairs, but catches Statlander onto the chair with a Drop Toe Hold. This backfires as Statlander drops Shida on the chairs with a Death Valley Driver. She introduces a fluorescent light tube to the match, but Shida puts a stop to the damage. Shida takes the tube and shatters it across Statlander’s back. She follows up with the Falcon Arrow, but Statlander surprisingly kicks out.
Both end up fighting on the apron, and Statlander intercepts Shida’s kendo stick and breaks it. Statlander stabs Shida with the broken stick and piledrives her through the table propped outside. Harley Cameron comes out and hands Statlander a kendo stick to finish the job. Statlander hits Wednesday Night Fever and picks up the win.
