Tonight, we have some gold on the line on AEW Dynamite as we head to Grand Slam Australia this weekend!
The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, The Babes of Wrath, will defend their titles against MegaBad. Harley Cameron is ready to head down under and defend her title alongside Willow Nightingale with the home turf advantage. But after the champions’ tough loss last week, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford look to prove they can make the upset again.
“Timeless” Toni Storm also makes her grandeur appearance after Orange Cassidy’s win. She heads back home to Grand Slam Australia with a head of hair on the line, and regardless of the outcome, she’ll leave proudly bald or leave Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta looking like Halloween costumes
Out of the blue, Yuta interrupts and says to bring “her” out. Shafir arrives along with Mina Shirakawa getting a taste of Mother’s Milk. They cross the line as they begin cutting a lock of Shirakawa’s hair, with Storm unable to help from across the arena.
In our main event, the AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander, defends against “The Toxic Spider” Thekla in a Strap Match. Thekla was promised a rematch at the world title, as long as Statlander had picked the stipulation. After quite a bruising at the hands of The Triangle of Madness, Statlander promises that Thekla will meet “Straplander.”
Both women are linked with the strap, and Statlander uses it to drag Thekla across the ring. Thekla cannot get away from Statlander, as the champion pummels her on the outside. The Toxic Spider finds her opening as she pulls Statlander towards the steel steps, and this causes Statlander to become busted open.
Thekla continues to lash out on Statlander, and she brings out her Tarantula Hold and Spider Suplex. Both continue to whip on each other, but Statlander finds the advantage to wrap the strap around Thekla and hit a Tombstone Piledriver. The Sisters of Sin appear to make the save, and Thekla hits a Spear as Statlander gets tied up.
The Toxic Spider knocks out Statlander for good and becomes the new AEW Women’s World Champion. The Triangle of Madness attempts to take out Statlander for good, but Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor come to save the day.
