Thekla To Challenge For AEW Women’s Title On Dynamite; New Tag Team Is Formed On Collision

On this week’s AEW Collision, which was filmed ahead of time and aired on Jan. 24. Thekla gave a very strong message to the AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander.

Statlander had just come off a win against Isla Dawn, as Thekla appeared on the screen. Thekla, wearing a Kris Statlander T-Shirt, stated she is such a fan, but it is just so sad that this will be Statlander’s last win as champion. She took off the Statlander shirt and said that it is okay, because there will be other dumb bitches as she spat on the shirt. She told Statlander to live long and prosper as a mock of Stat’s alien gimmick. Thekla ended the segment with a middle finger to the champion. The two will go at it with the title on the line this Wednesday, Jan. 28 on Dynamite!

A new tag team has formed. In a vignette aired on Collision, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor have come to the decision to become a team. The AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships just came to fruition with the inaugural champions, Babes of Wrath, being crowned in December. Windsor tells Hayter that she is a former champion and that she doesn’t want to bring home some gold. Hayter responded, saying then they’d better get some matching outfits then.

Lastly, the TBS Championship was on the line as Willow Nightingale defended against a former TBS Champion, Julia Hart. In the final moments of the match, Nightingale tried for a Babe with the Powerbomb, but Hart reversed it into a hurricanrana for a two count. Nightingale gained control of Hart again, and this time, she connected on the Babe with the Powerbomb to earn the win and retain.
