Toni Storm is the first woman to advance to the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Seven women have qualified in total for the tournament with the eighth woman being a mystery “Joker” spot. Storm took out Jamie Hayter in the first round.
A match many were looking forward to, Storm and Hayter have been ready to battle since both qualified for the tournament. Several backstage segments and a tag team win for Storm along with Ruby Soho against Hayter and Britt Baker hyped up this first-round bout.
The final moments of the match see Storm hitting a crossbody from the top and getting a near fall on Hayter. Hayter responds with a back-breaker and goes for the cover but Storm kicks out. Storm drops to her knees and catches Hayter in a backslide before executing Storm Zero to get the pin.
Storm will be facing the winner between Britt Baker and the mystery Joker opponent in the semi-finals. The Baker vs. Joker match will take place on next week’s Dynamite on May 18.
On the other side of the brackets, Riho takes on Ruby Soho this Friday on Rampage. The last quarter-finals match will be Red Velvet vs. Hikaru Shida with a date to be determined.
The finals will take place at Double or Nothing on May 29.
At Double or Nothing, Serena Deeb will be challenging Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women’s World Title. A promo for that upcoming match can be seen below.
