The May 17 episode of AEW Dynamite featured Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida joining forces to take on Ruby Soho and Toni Storm of The Outcasts. The bout was originally slated to be a six-woman tag, however AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter was pulled due to injury.
Nevertheless, the tag match got off to a quick start as Shida went to work on Soho and then Storm. Baker came in off the tag and showcased her offense until Saraya tripped her, allowing Storm to hit a hip attack to change the pace.
After the break, Shida returned with the hot tag to battle both Storm and Soho for a series of nearfalls. Soho was able to counter the Lockjaw and then delivered a kick to Baker. Baker then stomped Storm as Saraya distracted the ref, which allowed Storm to spray Baker in the face with paint. Storm scored the pinfall win to cap off the 10-minute match.
Later in the night, Toni Storm officially challenged Jamie Hayter to a rematch for the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 28. Hayter’s reign began when she dethroned Storm at Full Gear in November.
It was also announced that Jade Cargill will defend her TBS Championship in an open challenge this Friday on Rampage.
Abadon returned in an โbonus matchโ taped prior to Dynamite. They teamed with Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale as they defeated Emi Sakura, Nyla Rose, and Marina Shafir.
Lastly, Karen Jarrett appeared to help her husband with a low blow on Cash Wheeler.
