Video: Charlotte Talks Night of Champions, Nikki Bella, the Diva Revolution & More

Still riding high from being crowned the number one contender to the Divas Title, Charlotte spoke to Michael Cole in this week’s WWE.com sit down interview, talking about her title shot at Night of Champions, Divas Champion Nikki Bella, the pressure the comes with being a second generation wrestler, the Diva Revolution and more.

She says her recent success doesn’t feel real, as she started at NXT only three years ago. She admits that she never pictured herself being in this position.

Charlotte reflects on how, four years ago, she was still working as a personal trainer. She credits her late brother Reid Flair with helping her realize that wrestling was a dream she could pursue.

On the influence her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, has on her career, she says she feels the pressure every day. She says she loves carrying on his legacy with her Figure Eight finisher, the “WOOOO!”s and the chops, but admits that she wonders if people think she’s just a “rip off” of her father or if she’s only in her position due to nepotism. To counter that, she’s worked hard her entire life, playing every sport imaginable with the goal of being the best.

Charlotte comments on Nikki Bella’s advice to “go back to NXT”, saying that it makes her blood boil to have someone like Nikki dismiss her. She says that when she was NXT Women’s Champion, she was a fighting champ, always seeking opportunities to challenge and better herself.

She says the Diva Revolution is about empowering women all around the world – she wants to teach women and girls to chase their dreams. She acknowledges how hard it is to be a woman, feeling constant pressure to fit a standard, and expresses her hope that she can inspires others to be themselves.

Charlotte closes out the interview with a simple statement: Nikki is all about Nikki, and the Diva Revolution is bigger than her.
