Winners & Losers: AEW Dynamite 04.15.20

This week’s AEW Dynamite was all about Britt Baker. “The Face of the Women’s Division” was back in the ring after last week’s amazing match with Hikaru Shida. How would Britt fair after such a gruelling and hard-hitting match in which she suffered a broken nose? Let us find out.

Before the match, we were treated to a brilliant segment in which Baker presented the ‘The Rules of Being a Role Model’. Complete with a bandaged nose, Baker spoke of the “depths” in which Shida had to sink in order to defeat to her last week.

This was great. Not only did it put Baker over by showcasing her excellent character work but it also put Shida over as a badass. Great stuff once again.

In our second dose of Britt Baker, we got to see her take on “The Golden One” Cassandra Golden.

On her way to the ring Baker would have some choice words for Hirkaru Shida, who was a ringside.

The match would start with Baker taking out Golden’s leg with a kick, which she followed up with a superkick taking her opponent out.

As Golden recovers in the ropes, Baker would choke her and then force her mouth onto the bottom rope before viciously stamping on the back of her head curb stomp style for the pinfall victory.

After the match Baker would gloat and flaunt to her adoring public.

This was a super fast match that existed only to put Baker over as a vicious heel with a superiority complex, which is exactly what it did.

Winner: Britt Baker

Another week and another amazing showing by Baker who has really found herself in this heel role and continues to excel week after week. So good has Baker been in this role, in fact, she is now the focal point and face of the women’s division.

Final Thoughts

Another good showing considering the crazy circumstances. It seems that AEW only has Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, Penelope Ford and newcomer Anna Jay at their disposal, as these are the stars that have been used since the lockdown began.

As mentioned last week this is now a great chance to build the division around these performers, especially Baker and Shida.

During both the segment and the match Baker threw shade at Shida meaning the animosity between the two is still alive and well, which is a very good thing indeed. Last week Baker and Shida had the best women’s match AEW has put on to date and if there is the opportunity for them to start feud and put on more great matches, then sign me up.
