Women of the Year 2014: Lana

Every hour until the clock strikes midnight (Eastern time) and we usher in 2015, Diva Dirt will highlight – in no particular order – the women who made an impact in 2014.

Lana

There’s a reason this blond bombshell (who inspired me to wear MAC’s “Russia Red” lipstick nearly every time I went for my trademark color) made our Five to Watch list last year, becoming the first NXT/WWE Diva to do so in the process. Lane has it all – beauty, charisma, and a polarizing personality that enables her to work the microphone with some of the best stars in WWE history.

This year, Lana and Rusev took the main roster by storm, proudly promoting “Mother Russia” to American crowds and being completely unapologetic for the propaganda that came from Lana’s mouth. Both of them made their presence felt in more ways than one, and it’s safe to say that since their arrival on the main roster, Lane has become a star.

Lana’s anti-American statements have drawn intense heat no matter where she’s been, and she makes it so easy to despise her. She makes sure all of us know she is hopelessly devoted to Vladimir Putin, proud of her heritage, and that Rusev will “crush” absolutely everyone who steps in their way.

This past year, Lana was given the opportunity to be involved in segments with The Rock and Chris Jericho, to name a few, and was part of Team Authority at Survivor Series. Away from the ring, the woman behind Lana had a chance to reprise her character for Pitch Perfect 2 alongside Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow.

2014 was just the beginning of Lana’s rise within the WWE, and if she keeps it up, we have no doubt she will go down as one of the greatest managers in WWE history.

This concludes our tribute to the 2014 Women of the Year. Here’s to an even better 2015!
