Women’s Tag Team Title Brackets Announced, First Team Advances

The Women’s Tag Team Championships are back and there are eight teams vying to become the new champions. On the Aug. 8 episode of Raw, the full brackets were confirmed that had four teams from Raw, three teams from SmackDown, and a team from NXT 2.0. The first match took place and one team has advanced to the semi-finals.

The first round of the brackets is as follows –

  • Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah vs. Shotzi & Xia Li
  • Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark vs. Natalya & Sonya Deville

The first match took place with Brooke/Tamina taking on Kai/SKY. This first-round win went to Kai & SKY after Kai hits a Scorpion Kick to Tamina leading to SKY with a moonsault to get the pin. Next week will be Asuka & Alexa Bliss taking on Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop. The winner of that match will meet Kai & SKY in the semi-finals.

Promos for next week’s match took place backstage with Bayley/Kai/SKY interrupting.

Prior to the brackets being announced, Bayley/SKY/Kai kicked off Raw. They came face to face with the Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss. After words were exchanged booking a six-woman tag team bout for Clash at the Castle, an all-out brawl took place and even wounded up in the crowd.
