Women’s Title Match And Owen Hart Quarterfinal Set For AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a title match and several big developments.

To start, Kris Statlander defended the TBS title against Taya Valkyrie. They kept the action neck and neck at first. Kris then hit a moonsault reverse DDT to the floor that didn’t quite connect.

As a result, Taya was then able to take control by tossing Kris out of the ring. They knocked each other out coming back from commercial break before Statlander was able to put Valkyrie away with a piledriver to retain.

After their recent interactions, Toni Storm is officially set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in Toronto this Sunday.

Additionally, the bracket for the women’s Owen Hart tournament has been revealed. The matches and dates for the first round are as follows:

  • Anna Jay.A.S. vs. Skye Blue – June 23 at Rampage
  • Nyla Rose vs. Willow Nightingale – June 24 at Collision
  • Athena vs. Billie Starkz – June 25 at Forbidden Door (pre-show)
  • Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho – June 28 at Dynamite
