As with the case every year, when one WrestleMania is airing, the next year’s event tends to be announced. WrestleMania 42 was originally announced to take place in New Orleans, a place it has been held most recently in 2018 for WrestleMania 34. Now, there is a report that this location is no longer happening.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics received a statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation saying the event will be rescheduled for a later year. The statement also includes that WWE Money in the Bank will be held in New Orleans in 2026.
“The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership, which will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.”
Fightful also confirmed this report with WWE. This news has not been announced by WWE themselves to the general public.
Additional notes from Fightful Select is that upon hearing the news, many WWE employees, staff and talent were shocked. One talent noted that they were surprised to see this past year’s WrestleMania announced so late, with it being early May 2024 when it was announced. Now, next year’s isn’t official yet either.
According to NOLA.com, WrestleMania 42 will be held in Las Vegas once again, which was the home for WrestleMania 41.
The report stated, “After the success of this year’s event, the new leadership running WWE decided that they would rather hold next year’s event in Las Vegas and see what response they get from fans, according to an industry official who wasn’t authorized to be quoted by name.”
Sean Ross Sapp says that he is looking more into this.
