When WSU returns on 4/2 to team up with our partners NWS, we will present our two annual tournaments, the Women’s J-Cup & The King & Queen of the Ring. Both tournaments are prestigious and very important for the athletes that compete in them. As tradition goes, the winner of the J-Cup is guaranteed a WSU World Title shot at The Uncensored Rumble event. Previous winners of the J-Cup include all former WSU World Champions, such as Alexa Thatcher, Mercedes Martinez, Angel Orsini & Alicia. With every previous J-Cup winner holding the WSU World Title, the stakes are that much higher.

To guarantee to make things interesting, the J-Cup roster this year features people who have never held the WSU World Title. Whoever wins the J-Cup finals this year, will have won the biggest match in their career. One person will walk out of this tournament and get the chance to main event the Uncensored Rumble against whoever the WSU World Champion may be on June 25th, at WSU’s next iPPV event, “The Uncensored Rumble IV”. The future of WSU could very well become apparent in this tournament.

Here are the brackets for this tournament, where the winner will become the NEW NUMBER 1 Contender to the WSU World Championship & will main event The Uncensored Rumble on 6/25 in Union City, NJ against whomever the WSU World Champion may be:

Brittney Savage vs Cindy Rogers
Sassy Stephanie vs Jennifer Cruz
Tina San Antonio vs Jamilia Craft
Marti Belle vs Jana

One of these 8 women will get the biggest opportunity in their careers.

The WSU World Champion Mercedes Martinez, who has now entered year 3 as WSU World Champion will make her first defense since defeating Serena at the Four Year Anniversary iPPV. Mercedes Martinez will be challenged by the returning ARIEL.

The WSU Championship committee has ruled that Ariel is deserving of a WSU World Title Shot, based on a match on 8/22/09. Ariel won a match to become number 1 contender to the Spirit Championship. However, Ariel was unable to return to WSU to cash in that opportunity. WSU has ruled in the favor of “interest” and has turned Ariel’s Spirit Championship shot into a shot at the WSU World Championship, the biggest prize in womens wrestling today.

BREAKING NEWS: The advertised Jessicka Havok vs Alicia match has been moved to the King & Queen event on the same day due to scheduling issues.

This event will be taped for DVD release.

In the nightcap, WSU & NWS will present the King & Queen of the Ring Tournament. Each year, NWS & WSU team up to present this special mixed tag team wrestling tournament. Winners of the tournament always receive a WSU World Title shot during the calendar year.

This show will also feature one of the biggest one on one grudge matches in WSU history. In perhaps in what will be the most heated and brutal match of the day, JESSICKA HAVOK takes on ALICIA! This match has been booked as a direct result of Jessicka Havok’s attack on Alicia at the 4YAS. Both Alicia & Jessicka want to tear into each other. Alicia wants revenge on Jessicka for costing her the WSU Championship while Havok wants to prove to the world that she belongs on top of WSU. This match will be an all out war.

Due to scheduling issues, Havok vs Alicia, a big time explosive match, is now on the King & Queen event! Due to Havok & Alicia focusing in on each other, both have pulled out of the tournament. New brackets for the tournament have been released below.

Before revealing the new brackets, in a twist, the WSU World Champion will be competing in this tournament, as both WSU World Champion Mercedes Martinez & Ariel, who is challenging Martinez at the J-Cup will participate in the tournament! Whoever is the WSU World Champion will get a chance to shoot down a future challenge by winning this tournament, while the other 7 women will make a target out of the champion.

The new brackets have been released, here they are:

Frightmare & Jamilia Craft vs Sassy Stephanie & JD Smoothie
Kenny Dykstra & Cindy Rogers vs Spyral & Ariel
Jennifer Cruz & Nicky Oceans vs Julio Dinero & Jana
The debuting Nikki Styx & Corey Havok vs Mercedes Martinez & Bison Bravado

Many interesting scenarios can come out of this tournament. The WSU World & WSU Spirit Champions will be participating. We know at least one champion won’t be on the winning end of this tournament. New rivalries may emerge, while old ones may be rekindled. Who will reign supreme in this year’s King & Queen of the Ring tournament?

Two more matches have been signed:

Brittney Savage vs Rick Cataldo
On 3/5, Brittney Savage denounced the Cosmo Club and said it was no more. Savage then laid out Cataldo with a diamond cutter, but made it clear she did that for herself and not the fans. Cataldo has been fuming ever since Savage turned her back on him and has demanded a match. However, Savage was originally booked for the King & Queen tournament. Savage told WSU she would rather destroy Rick, the heart of the Cosmo Club, once and for all. These two allies for the last 18 months will wage war on each other. The Cosmo Club may be over, and so could one of these two’s careers.

WSU Tag Team Title Match
(c) The Belle Saints (Tina & Marti) vs Monique & ???
Monique, taking a page out of her mentor’s book, Jennifer Cruz, has a mystery partner for 4/3. The Saints will be making their first defense since Jazz has entered the fray, as WSU has our first ever champions defending under the “Freebird” rule. Can Monique take a championship away from Jazz before Jazz even gets a chance to defend it?

That’s not all, after these two shows on Tournament Saturday, WSU returns on 4/3 as part of INDYMANIA with ACE & NYWC! Here are the details:

Spyral vs Rob Vegas

The careers of Rob Vegas and Spyral have been moving in opposite directions within the Diamond Division. “The ACE of Diamonds” has been on a bit of a losing streak since losing his Diamond Division championship back at Night of 3Somes against Eddie Kingston, while Spyral has been on quite the roll ever since proclaiming himself “the Future of the Diamond Division”. Now at INDYMANIA, Vegas and Spyral will be squaring off one-on-one, with both men needing a win badly to get into Diamond Division championship contention. Will the man from “Every Girl’s Bedroom” end the skid and start the ascension to Diamond Division stardom? Or will Spyral continue to prove that “the Future of the Diamond Division” moniker holds true? April 3rd, we find out.

ACE Tag Team Championship
DRS © vs R8D X

When EC Negro and KC Blade became the ACE Tag Team champions at Redemption on January 15, it was amid controversy, as neither Neeno Capone nor Envy were pinned in the triple threat match to lose the belts. And previously, with matches between the Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz and R8D X over the past few months prior, there were some serious controversial endings on those matches as well. With that said, ACE management wants to settle the controversy once and for all, and at INDYMANIA on April 3rd, the two time former ACE Tag Team champions R8D X and the NEW ACE Tag Team champions the Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz will be looking to tear it up one more time with the tag silver on the line. Will there be a clean-cut winner in this one, or will more controversy occur on April 3rd between two of independent wrestling’s best tag teams?

Mercedes Martinez & Alicia vs Jessicka Havok & Brittney Savage

Jessicka Havok has been running roughshod in WSU and is looking to become the next WSU World Champion. Sassy Stephanie was originally scheduled to be Martinez’s partner, but when Alicia asked Stephanie for her spot in this match, Stephanie obliged, stating that Alicia helped her on 1/22 & gave her advice before her 3/5 Spirit Title match. Alicia will have a chance at Jessicka Havok on 4/2, but wants this opportunity to destroy Jessicka Havok. Alicia also would love to go after her old rival Brittney Savage, as the Alicia vs Savage feud will continue in this match. There is no love lost between Martinez & Savage either, as Savage plotted to take the WSU World Championship from Martinez last year. Savage has dumped the Cosmo Club, as she wants to reinvent her career in WSU. By aligning with Jessicka Havok, Savage is doing just that, but Jessicka Havok has shown she is loyal to no one but herself. Martinez & Alicia are no strangers to each other, as both teamed up twice last year, and had issues getting along. Havok & Alicia have emerged as top contenders to Martinez’s championship, but can Savage get her name into the mix? Revenge, emotion, pride, anger, hostility & extreme prejudice will be shown in this match.

WSU Spirit Championship
Sassy Stephanie © vs Jana

When Stephanie gave Alicia her spot in the tag team match, one of the reasons was because Sassy Stephanie wants to be taken as a serious champion. Stephanie plans on emulating other great champions, such as Mercedes Martinez and wants to defend her title as often as possible. The WSU Championship committee has awarded Jana a Spirit Title match. Jana is a former Spirit Champion and would love to be on top of the Spirit division once again. This will be Jana’s first crack at the Spirit Championship since becoming a fan favorite earlier this year.

Tony Nese vs. Alex Reynolds

NYWC is bringing two of its finest and brightest young stars on April 3rd to face off, as “Yours Truly” Alex Reynolds will be going one-on-one with Tony “Maverick” Nese. Nese and Reynolds, both former NYWC champions, have many NYWC and independent wrestling fans buzzing over this contest. Many insiders have been saying that this match might steal the show in Union City on the 3rd, and for those fans that have seen “Maverick” and “Yours Truly” go at it before in front of NYWC audiences, expect a lot of the state-of-the-art wrestling they’ve been known for inside Indymania. Who will make an incredible impression on the grand stage of INDYMANIA, Tony Nese or Alex Reynolds? April 3rd, we find out.
