WWE is bringing the Backlash premium live event to Puerto Rico. This will be the first major event in Puerto Rico since 2005 which was New Year’s Revolution. It also appears the “WrestleMania” part of the WrestleMania Backlash name has been dropped and reverted back to Backlash.
This news was first reported by Variety which confirmed the location and date. The event will be held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan.
It has also been confirmed that singer Bad Bunny is set to host the event. Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. This is about an hour away from San Juan where Backlash is set to take place.
Backlash will be the first premium live event after WrestleMania which takes place on April 1 & 2. It was previously announced by WWE that Backlash would not be the only event held in May. King And Queen of the Ring will take place on May 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
