WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match booked for SmackDown on May 14

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships will be on the line for next week’s SmackDown. The champions, Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler will be defending against Tamina & Natalya.

For weeks now, the team of Natalya and Tamina have been besting the tag champs. Whether it has been singles matches or as a tag team, the challengers have been pulling out wins since WrestleMania. Natalya & Tamina weren’t able to capture the titles at WrestleMania and have kept themselves at the top of ever since.

Tonight, Tamina went one-on-one with Reginald. The match ended in a disqualification as Jax pulled Reginald out of the ring to avoid Tamina hitting the Superfly Smash which made the official call for the bell. Baszler would then shove Tamina off the turnbuckle and went on the attack. Both Tamina & Natalya were left laid out post-match. Baszler stomped on Tamina’s arm before Jax delivered a Samoan Drop to Tamina into the barricade.

The other women’s match on the show was Carmella vs. Ruby Riott w/Liv Morgan. Although it was a short match, Carmella ended up getting the victory after sneaking in a Code of Silence which caused Riott to tap out. This was the first time that we have seen either woman in action since WrestleMania.

Lastly, as we build towards WrestleMania Backlash, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will be defending against Bayley. Bayley made her way out to the ring to “celebrate” some women’s champions from the past. The list included Alundra Blayze, Jacqueline, Lita, Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, and Ivory. Although she paid “tribute” to these women of the past, she spent the majority of the time saying how much better she was than all of them.

The Role Model then transferred her attention to Belair. Claiming that she won’t just be Belair’s first challenger for the SmackDown Women’s Title, but she will be her last. Belair then made her way to the ring and said that she will beat Bayley at WrestleMania Backlash and head towards being the new longEST reigning champion in history.

Bayley then stopped Belair midsentence by laughing at her before trying to take her down at the knees. Belair was quick to counter the attack. In the end, however, the challenger hit the Rose Plant and would walk away leaving the champion laying in the ring.
