While Gail Kim announced she quit WWE last week, the former Women’s Champion has not yet been granted a release from her contract. Gail essentially walked out on the company, as noted on her Twitter, due to frustration as to how she’s been used.
According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, WWE has not made an official decision on how to handle the situation. Johnson further notes that WWE had hoped she would change her mind about quitting.

As anyone who follows Gail on Twitter will have seen, she has flat-out said she won’t return to WWE.
Thoughts: This is a sticky situation. For all intents and purposes, Gail is still under contract with WWE, and not honoring your contract by walking out is unprofessional. However, considering the fact that WWE hasn’t done anything of substance with her in her two-year run, why not just release her? It’s hardly a big loss to them considering the fact they never utilized her anyway.
It looks like this could turn into a legal battle between the two sides as Gail could be deemed in breach of her contract. Just earlier today on Twitter, Gail made overtures that could be interpreted as WWE putting their lawyers on her.
