A few years ago the catchphrase “No one is ready for Asuka” sent a powerful message throughout the women’s revolution as “The Empress of Tomorrow” left her path of destruction through NXT and WWE’s main roster. She went undefeated for 914 days before suffering her first loss at the hands of Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34.
Now, that Asuka was able to finally avenge that loss and has gained tons of momentum to close out the year it’s time for the former SmackDown Women’s Champion to take her place as one of the best women in the company. This can be done by becoming the next RAW Women’s Champion heading until WrestleMania 36. Although she’s currently enjoying a solid run as one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Kairi Sane in my opinion it’s time to break this team up for now.
The Kabuki Warriors should drop the titles to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross giving that team a legit babyface run while allowing Sane and Asuka to continue their feuds against Flair and Lynch as solo acts. My vote would be for Asuka to defeat Lynch at TLC and carry the title through the road to WrestleMania setting up “The Man” to become the Hunter which we haven’t seen Lynch do in that role in quite sometime. Although the rumored match for the next pay-per-view is going to be the women’s tag titles on the line in a TLC match, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for a Winners Take All Match.
Her accolades include NXT Women’s Champion, SmackDown Women’s Champion, and Women’s Tag Team Champion. She is only one title away from joining Bayley in the Grand Slam club. With all of her accomplishments, you would think Asuka would already be in elite company, but it often seems in most of her storylines she’s more of an underdog compared to the likes of Flair, Lynch, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.
Without question her name deserves to be in the conversation of the best of the women’s revolution…and if it isn’t there already, defeating Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship is the only way to get there.
