Athena Reigns The Globe, Wins the War!

Thursday night at ROH Global Wars Athena defended her ROH Women’s World Championship against the IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri at the Main Event.

But first the ROH Women’s World Television Champion Red Velvet teamed up with Thunder Rosa, taking on ROH breakout stars, Lacey Lane and Viva Van.

The most established stars took control after a good back and forth in the first minute, but with nothing to lose and everything to prove, Viva Van and Lacey Lane fought back as hard as they could.

After a couple of near falls and reversals from both teams, Thunder Rosa tagged herself in, allowing the former AEW Women’s Champion to pick up the win with the Tijuana Bomb.

Next it was Diamante and Maika turn to square off. Diamante was dirty while Maika was aggressive, and feeding from the crowd’s energy, she used that aggression to get the win with the Michinoku Driver.

Hyan represented ROH in this global affair with Takumi Iroha ROH debut alongside the iconic Sareee. After a hug of honor, they started their match. Iroha brought the Japanese strong style while Hyan brought her agility.

Iroha dominated most of the match, however Hyan made her comeback, getting a near fall in the process. Going tit for tat with their punches and forearms both women got close to victory, but it was Takumi that accomplished the win finishing Hyan with a running crucifix powerbomb.

Finally at the main event Syuri and Athena went head to head with Athena bothered by her previous loss against Syuri she was determined to get her lick back to remain at the top.

Syuri had less to lose but did not hesitate to hit and kick the champion as hard and ruthless as ever, almost ripping Athena’s arm off. Athena responded with the same aggression, using her bruised ego as an extra boost, coming out at the top retaining her ROH Women’s World Championship!
