Juneteenth was celebrated in the United States yesterday, and many wrestling talents took to social media to celebrate.

Former inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion, Kelani Jordan, was one of the more vocal names.

Our history is filled with fighters who refused to stay down. Grateful for their sacrifice and resilience because they allowed me to be able to do what I love today. Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏽👑🤎

More names chime into the celebration by wishing everyone a Happy Juneteenth. Those names include Jade Cargill, Mara Sade, Tasha Steelz, Carmelo Hayes, Je’von Evans, and more.

What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth,” marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. This date was officially made a federal holiday in 2021.
