Bayley set to defend her title at the Royal Rumble against Lacey Evans

After their non-title match tonight, Lacey Evans has received her SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Bayley at Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble is just one week from Sunday and Evans will be looking to win her first gold in her career.

Ever since the Friday Night SmackDown after Survivor Series, Bayley and Evans have been going at each other. They would not receive a match at the TLC pay-per-view last month and Bayley wouldn’t even compete at all. The feud continued, however, and has built up around Sasha Banks firmly in Bayley’s corner.

A few weeks ago it became very personal between the former U.S. Marine and the duo. Banks would taunt the daughter of Evans as she was sitting in the front row. That was enough to see a change in Evans. Ever since then she has had fire in her eyes and has wanted to take out both Banks and Bayley.

After two weeks of an advertised match between Banks and Evans not happening (this week due to an “ankle injury”), Bayley was forced to face her rival without the title on the line tonight. After a hard-fought match between both women, Bayley would succumb to the Woman’s Right and Evans would pin the champ.

This match announcement means there are three women’s matches at the Royal Rumble event:

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans

RAW Women’s ChampionshipBecky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka

30-Woman Royal Rumble – current participants announced: Charlotte Flair, Sarah Logan, and Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross.
