Becky Lynch kicked off the Aug. 1 episode of Raw with some bad news.
The former Raw Women’s Champion has confirmed earlier reports that she is in fact injured from her match at SummerSlam against Bianca Belair. She made her way to the ring with a sling and cast on her arm and took a deep breath before delivering the news.
After separating her shoulder early in the Raw Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam she said she could have done one of two things: given up OR she could have given it everything she had. She fought through 20 minutes with Bianca Belair and did what she had to do, not only for herself but to create the best women’s division ever.
She goes on to define “The Man” and that we start a new era with a new comeback story that starts now. Lynch then calls for Belair to join her in the ring. Belair told Lynch, “You not only defined The Man, but you are The Man.” The two would embrace in the middle of the ring. Before walking off, Lynch said, “Hold it down B, I’ll see you soon.” The crowd chanted “Becky” as she made her way to the back.
Leaving Belair in the ring with a mic, she says she has nothing but respect for Lynch. While Belair was explaining the mutual respect between the two of them, Lynch was being attacked backstage by Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY. The attack appears on the screen and Belair rushes out of the ring to run to the back to save Lynch.
Lynch was attacked with a steel chair by the new faction. By the time Belair made it to Lynch, the trio had already run off.
There was no confirmation on if Lynch would need surgery but did state on WWE’s social media that she would be out for “several months.”
