Alexa Bliss is one of a few names that WWE fans have expected to have returned to a regular television schedule at this time. What was more disappointing to many fans is that Bliss wasn’t included in the plans for WrestleMania 38.
In January it was reported that Bliss had up to nine vignettes filmed for her return to WWE programming. Bliss had originally taken a short time off after her loss at Extreme Rules against Charlotte Flair in September. The vignettes culminated in her returning and competing in the Elimination Chamber match in Saudi Arabia in February.
According to a new report by Fightful Select, even at the point of Bliss’ return to the Elimination Chamber event, there was no substantial creative direction for her. Talent, creative, and higher-ups that Fightful spoke to have said that Bliss has voiced her displeasure in the days following Elimination Chamber about her creative direction or moreso lack thereof.
Despite Bliss not appearing on the WrestleMania 38 card, she was willing to work the show and there were pitches to involve her in the Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair Raw Women’s Championship match. That was quickly shot down. By the end of February, it was pretty well determined internally that Bliss would not be featured at WrestleMania at all. The priority of booking Bliss shifted significantly after the vignettes.
Talent and creative were told that Bliss was very transparent and frustrated about the non-existent substance of her booking after being out of action for half a year. Talent furthermore told Fightful that there was also discussions backstage that Bliss had voiced her concerns directly to Vince McMahon.
There is still no update on any imminent plans for her return but she is currently on her honeymoon after getting married earlier this month. She is still listed as the number two babyface for WWE on the Raw internal depth charts as of last week.
