First Team Advances To WrestleMania Showcase; Flair vs. Ripley Heats Up

In case you missed SmackDown this week, some things actually happened unlike weeks past.

First, WWE confirmed that there will be a Fatal 4-way tag team bout at WrestleMania where four teams will compete in the WrestleMania Showcase. The first team to stamp their ticket is Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez. The team defeated Emma & Tegan Nox to advance.

The final moments in that match had Rodriguez hitting the Texana Bomb on Emma with Morgan following up with ObLIVion to get the pin.

Prior to this match, there was a mixed tag team match. It was between Zelina Vega & Santos Escobar taking on Rhea Ripley & Dominik Mysterio. This match in my opinion was great and was a fantastic showing for Vega. Unfortunately for her, it wasn’t enough and after she hit a hurricarana on Dom it winded up her in the Riptide which gave Ripley and Dom the win.

This wouldn’t be the last we saw of Ripley as things have finally heated up between her and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. The two will meet at WrestleMania for the blue brands title. However, much like the Raw Women’s Title match, both have felt lacking in the storyline department.

Flair made her way to the ring first to start the segment. She states that the more things change, the more they stay the same. She boasted that this is her seventh WrestleMania match and she has always gone into this event either as challenger or champion. And regardless of the outcome she has always been the star.

Ripley then makes her way to the ring. She says that everyone in the back whether it be men or women fear her and go the other way when she is around. Everyone but Flair, and that’s what really gets under Ripley’s skin. She wants Flair to fear her and she wants to walk out of Mania as champion.

Dominik would then approach Flair which led to a cheap shot on her by Ripley. As the couple exited the ring, Flair wouldn’t let that be the end. Both Flair and Ripley brawled all around the ringside area with numerous security and officials trying to break them up. Eventually it would spill out to the crowd but with the separation created, Flair would return to the ring and taunt Ripley with the SmackDown Women’s Title belt.
