Kris Statlander to defend her AAW Women’s Title against Hyan at Crush & Destroy

AAW Pro Wrestling has announced that its Women’s Championship will be defended for the first time in 16-months. Kris Statlander is the current champion and she defeated Jessicka Havok in December, 2019 to capture the title. Her last defense was against Jody Threat. The Crush & Destroy event is taking place on June 11.

This time, Statlander has a big challenge in someone who is making a big name for herself around the indies and that is Hyan. Hyan has most recently participated in a tournament for Global Syndicate Wrestling (GSW) which took place over the weekend. That promotion is set to crown its inaugural champion. She was unable to make it past the first round but had a stellar match against Allysin Kay.

The remainder of that event saw first round advances from Trish Adora over Kimber Lee, Deonna Purrazzo over Jordan Blaze, and Vicious Vickie over Holidead.

Hyan also has participated twice recently for Ring of Honor in order to win a golden ticket into their tournament this summer to crown a new champion. At this time she has not been granted the entrance into the tournament but that could still change as the tournament is still shaping up.

She is the current Heart of SHIMMER champion which she won in a triple threat against Statlander and Rhia O’Reilly. Hyan has recently confirmed that she is still a free agent.

As for Statlander, she recently returned to the ring in AEW after nearly a year out due to injury. She has been undefeated since her return, last defeating Diamante on AEW Dark.
