Lacey Evans Goes Back To The Basics; Emma Takes On Shayna Baszler

In April, vignettes started airing for a returning Lacey Evans. She had been out for over a year due to maternity leave. The vignettes at that time showed her emotional past and what has made her into the woman she is today. However, poor booking of her character involving moving her back and forth between Raw and SmackDown and changing her from babyface to heel halted her impact. Now, after several months of sporadic appearances in a few matches, Evans has a new vignette.

Focusing on her time as a marine, you can view her going back to the basics in the video below.

Elsewhere on SmackDown, Emma took on Shayna Baszler. Since aligning herself with the SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, we’ve seen the older Baszler coming back. Baszler was able to pick up win after applying the Kirifuda Clutch causing Emma to tap out. Baszler of course was not done even thought he match was over. She set up Emma to stomp on her arm, but Shotzi’s music hits.

Shotzi rushes to the ring to help Emma but Baszler was able to fight off Shotzi as well. It wasn’t until Raquel Rodriguez made her way out to the ring that Baszler backed off. Baszler had broken Rodriguez’s elbow last week as she was wearing a brace to reflect the kayfabe injury.

As Baszler walks away she makes note that it took three of them to combat her.

Baszler and SHotzi will have a match next week. In a Digital Exclusive, Baszler says it takes three of them to do what she can do.

Other women on SmackDown included Zelina Vega in a promo with Legado del Fantasma and then commentary for the World Cup finals between Santos Escobar and Ricochet.

Damage CTRL appeared on SmackDown this week and had an encounter with Liv Morgan and a returning Tegan Nox. More on that can be read here.
