A previous report from the Wrestling Observer had Tay Melo asking for her release last year and being denied. CEO of AEW, Tony Khan has cleared up this rumor.
According to Khan, Melo requested it after her Collision match against Divine Dominion in June this year. This was because she wanted to step away from wrestling. He said he would grant Melo’s request for release and that her relationship with AEW remains good. (Notes provided by POST Wrestling).
Melo has been with AEW since 2020 and is considered the original women’s tag team with Anna Jay. Anna Jay has extended her contract with the company, but is currently not medically cleared.
