Sasha Banks and Naomi have officially been off WWE programming now for three weeks and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for them returning at this time.
Reports and official statements from WWE started running both on-screen and off on May 16, that Banks and Naomi left Raw after disputing the upcoming plans for the team.
There’s been a lot of information out there but the general gist is that the duo wanted more for the Women’s Tag Team Championships and the lack of division that exists to fight for the gold. Since then, WWE has suspended the duo indefinitely, vacated the tag team championships, and removed the option to purchase merchandise of them on WWE Shop. They have also had their company ran Facebook pages taken down and were removed from the opening sequence for WWE programming.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select there hasn’t been much talk or any resolution moving forward at this time.
Fightful states –
Naomi and Sasha Banks are currently suspended, and as of now, there’s no end in sight.
We’re told by those in WWE that they’ve not heard of much, if any, communication between the two sides. However, Fightful was able to confirm that WWE had canceled upcoming travel plans they had for both women starting last week when the suspension happened.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that the suspension was without pay. We’ve not been able to verify that, but one higher up told Fightful they don’t believe Naomi and Sasha Banks’ contracts would be frozen if they’re not being paid. We’ll attempt to get a confirmation on that.
Another source indicated to Fightful that initially, several in WWE didn’t want to vacate the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, but it became clear pretty quickly that was the route that needed to be taken. We’ve heard no update on when the potential tournament could take place.
