Mercedes Martinez vs. Athena Set For ROH Women’s Title at Final Battle

Mercedes Martinez will defend the ROH Women’s World Championship against Athena at ROH’s Final Battle. Final Battle takes place on Dec. 10.

Martinez has recently returned from an injury that had her out of action since July. She returned on an episode of AEW Rampage where she rushed to the ring to help fend off Athena after a post-match attack on Madison Rayne and referee Aubrey Edwards. Athena responded the following week challenging Martinez for the gold.

Since defeating Willow Nightingale in April, Martinez has held the AEW Women’s World Championship. She was crowned Interim Champion until she face Deonna Purrazzo who held the title. She unified the gold in May on an episode of Dynamite. Before her injury, Martinez last successfully defended the title against Serena Deeb at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
