After a game-changing AEW Redemption this past weekend, we continue with AEW Dynamite tonight as we begin the road towards All In at Wembley.
First, Renee Paquette is backstage with The Brawling Birds as they’re set on taking the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships from the Divine Dominion.
The TBS Championship is on the line tonight as the new TBS Champion, Maya World, defends against the CMLL World Women’s Champion, Persephone. World won the championship this past weekend at Redemption, but now defends days later against Persephone with an aggressive attitude.
Both kick it off on an even playing field, but World finds her footing as she sends Persephone to the outside. Persephone gets World where she wants her and sends her crashing face-first into the apron.
World is in a bit of trouble, but fights back as she tries to score a quick rollup. Persephone powers through and hits a Fallaway Slam as she follows up with a dive to the outside. World fights back as well and uses the apron to hit a Tornado DDT on the floor. Both make it back to the ring, and Persephone hits a hard lariat to take them both out.
Persephone hits a German Suplex, but it’s still not enough to take out World. World gets out of dodge in the corner and hits the Moonsault until the former TBS Champion, Hikaru Shida, tries to get some revenge. Kris Statlander puts a stop to it as World hits her signature Fallaway Slam to defend her title.
We also celebrate another new champion from Redemption, and she is the AEW Women’s World Champion, Willow Nightingale. The crowd is 100% behind her as she’s had a very up-and-down year. Her message to everyone is to keep fighting through because “the comeback is even better than the dream.”
Here to interrupt the heartfelt message is none other than the two-time Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner, Mercedes Moné. She’s out here for business and wants Nightingale to sign the contract for All In immediately. There’s no love lost between these two, but Nightingale looks to stick her milestones in The CEO’s face. Moné has realized that all the success Nightingale has had has come out of The CEO’s expense.
At All In, Moné looks to rip the title out of Nightingale’s hands and especially her smile too. Things get physical, but Moné has backup in Megan Bayne and Lena Kross. Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor come out to make the save, but Moné and her business deal retreat.
