IMPACT Wrestling launches new streaming service

IMPACT

Today, IMPACT Wrestling announced via press release that they are launching a brand-new subscription-based streaming service entitled IMPACT Plus. The app will feature a library spanning the company’s 17-year history, as well as monthly live specials.

“Anthem Sports & Entertainment is proud to partner with Brightcove on the development and launch of IMPACT Plus,” said Ed Nordholm, the current president of IMPACT Wrestling as well as the executive vice president of Anthem.

“As our subscriber base has grown, we have established the need for a more robust back-end technology, while looking to enhance our user experience and content offering. Starting this Sunday, we will be delivering a live premium event every month exclusively for IMPACT Plus subscribers.”

Plus will be available across multiple streaming devices, including online, iOS, and Android, as well as on Roku and Amazon Fire TV. The service will be available through subscription at a monthly rate of $7.99.

The streaming service will offer its first live special, Code Red, on May 5 at the NYC Arena in Queens, NY. Notable matches already confirmed on the card include a mixed tag match featuring Taya Valkyrie and Johnny Impact vs. Eddie and Alisha Edwards, and a tag match pitting Tessa Blanchard and Violette vs. Scarlett Bordeaux and Sonya Strong.

Subscribers to IMPACT’s Global Wrestling Network will migrate over to Plus, and the four major pay-per-views will also be available for purchase through the app.

Mickie James releases new woman empowerment song

Mickie James is well known by wrestling fans due to her striking and technical abilities in the ring. Her accolades in the ring are proven by her many championship reigns throughout many promotions. Many “Hardcore Country” fans may already know of her activities outside of the ring. Her career as a country music singer is often overlooked.

James is a 20-year veteran on lacing up her wrestling boots, but few know that she also laces up her cowboy boots. She started releasing music in 2010 which makes her a 9-year country musician. As of last week, she has released a music video for her new song, “I Don’t Give A.”

In her video, she brings her sassy personality to light with a tune that empowers women to stand up for themselves. She brushes off a bar patron who attempts to hit on her with a “get your hands up off my shoulder” line that strikes down unwanted advances. This track has a perfect summertime feel for those who correlate their music to seasons.

Her music highlights a strong independent woman quality that she brings to her in-ring character as well. Past songs that encompass this feeling include “Hardcore Country” and “Somebody’s Gonna Pay.” While part of Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling she incorporated “Hardcore Country” as her entrance theme song.

The “Somebody’s Gonna Pay” music video features former WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus as a butt-kicking bartender and James’ now husband former TNA World Heavyweight Champion – Magnus.

What are your thoughts on Mickie James’ new song? Would you like WWE to incorporate her music more into her gimmick? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
