Big name debuts at NXT UK taping

Today in England, Viper made her NXT UK debut. During the television taping, the Scottish superstar came to the ring wearing an NXT UK t-shirt and got a huge pop from the crowd.

The last time Viper appeared in a WWE ring was when she was a part of the inaugural Mae Young Classic under the moniker Piper Niven. We reported back in January that AEW was trying to sign the star, but WWE that may have beaten them to the punch It seems as though they did and she has officially signed with WWE.

It is still unclear when she will make her in-ring debut at NXT UK. Tomorrow night she competes at the Insane Championship Wrestling’s Square Go event, which is much like the Royal Rumble. She is a previous two-time women’s champion with that promotion. Viper, along with Kay Lee Ray, have been the core of the women’s division at ICW. Last year, the two battled in a career-defining Queen of Insanity match at ICW Fear & Loathing XI.

ICW is one of three European promotions who have officially aligned themselves with WWE, along with PROGRESS and Germany’s wXw, so it’s little surprise that Kay Lee Ray has also signed with WWE. Ray is expected to make her in-ring debut soon, following a video spot on last week’s episode of NXT UK. She and Jazzy Gabert, both of whom number among Viper’s fellow alumni of the inaugural Mae Young Classic, previously appeared in the crowd at NXT UK: TakeOver Blackpool, effectively announcing their signing.

We will keep you posted with updates on Viper’s in-ring debut. What do you think of Viper joining the roster at NXT UK? Who do you want her feud with first?
