Over the next five days, we will unveil the names that the Diva Dirt staff have handpicked. Meet the Class of 2012…

KAY LEE RAY

Who is she?
A standout from the incredible crop of Scottish talent that’s emerged in the past few years, this fiery-haired Glaswegian has been making serious waves on the British circuit. Kay Lee Ray‘s most recent mark on the wrestling map was at Pro Wrestling:EVE’s “Wrestle-Fever” iPPV, where she took Joshi legend Emi Sakura to the limit for her JWP Openweight Title, just coming up short but turning a lot of heads her way in the process. Still only 20 years of age, Kay Lee Ray is the fastest-rising star in the British female wrestling scene today.

Her story so far…
A trainee of PBW’s Scottish Pro Wrestling Academy, Kay Lee Ray made her debut in 2009, wrestling for a number of promotions in her home country. In 2011 she began to make the trip south of the border to wrestle more often, becoming a regular fixture in shows around the UK, and even making her overseas debut last year at Danish Pro Wrestling. Meanwhile back in Scotland, she was establishing herself as the top breakout star of the women’s division, with her feud against Carmel Jacob, which culminated in a victory for Kay Lee in a brutal and breathtaking deathmatch (the first women’s deathmatch in Scotland) garnering a lot of positive attention from the wrestling community. In 2012 Kay Lee has gained even more experience as she’s had the opportunity to work with stars such as Mickie James, Angelina Love and Emi Sakura. This, along with the mainstay position she has earned in the EVE roster, have no doubt helped her as she makes a seemingly effortless transition to the next level in wrestling.

Why we chose her:
In under three years Kay Lee Ray has gone from an unknown rookie to one of the household names of women’s wrestling in the UK today. Her boundless charisma and unbridled determination are winning people over by the day, and with her this talented in the ring at 20 it’s scary to imagine how good she might be in a few years’ time! Make no mistake, Kay Lee Ray is riding a huge wave of momentum right now, and 2013 may well be the year we see her make the impact we know she can on the world stage.
