Thunder Rosa Retains AEW Women’s Title At Forbidden Door

The AEW x NJPW event Forbidden Door took place tonight in Chicago, Ill. Thunder Rosa defended the AEW Women’s World Title against Toni Storm. This would mark Storm’s first championship match since joining AEW. Storm earned this opportunity by defeating Dr. Britt Baker a couple of weeks back. This was the only women’s match on the card.

The final moments of the match witnessed Storm hit a hip attack followed up by a tornado DDT to get a near fall. She attempted the Storm Zero next to put Rosa away for her first gold in AEW but Rosa would hit a Codebreaker. Rosa would dominate the back half of the match targeting Storm’s shoulder.

Throwing out her complete arsenal, Rosa executes the Death Valley Driver followed by the Fire Thunder Driver but continued to achieve a near fall. She would finally put Storm away with Final Reckoning which is a move by Dustin Rhodes. The opponents would embrace after the match.

This was Rosa’s fourth successful championship defense since winning the title back in March from Britt Baker. She has retained previously against Nyla Rose, Serena Deeb, and Marina Shafir.
