Toni Storm says she had Planned on Retiring From Wrestling

Toni Storm became All Elite last week as she made her debut for AEW in a big way. On last Wednesday’s Dynamite, Storm was revealed as The Bunny’s opponent in the first qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. She defeated The Bunny to qualify and has a chance to win the tournament which will conclude at Double or Nothing at the end of May.

Storm had left WWE in late December after a SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Charlotte Flair. AEW has just aired a video on YouTube for its ‘Road to Boston’ where Storm discusses her debut with the company and how she considered leaving wrestling entirely.

Storm says, “Recently, I planned on retiring from the wrestling industry which is something I have never considered in my entire life. I’ve put my entire life into becoming the best professional wrestler that I could be and I lost that part of myself. It brought out a lot of feelings of emptiness and sadness that I can’t even describe. I traveled the entire world to be good at this, just like Owen Hart did.”

The qualifying matches will continue up until May when the tournament will officially begin. At that point, a total of eight women will be vying to win the trophy. On last Friday’s Rampage, Jamie Hayter defeated Skye Blue to qualify for the tournament as well.
