Trish Stratus Stays Open Minded For A Match With Sasha Banks

Trish Stratus vs. Sasha Banks is a match that fans have been wanting for years. It is one of those dream matches that many are still holding out hope for. Dating back to the first women’s Royal Rumble match in 2018, Stratus and Banks had a moment as they stared each other down during the iconic 30-woman match. The moment intensified for several minutes between the two as Banks would eventually be the one to eliminate Stratus.

While speaking with ET Canada, Stratus comments on how fans are still wanting a match between her and Sasha. Stratus is keeping an open mind to a follow-up from their Royal Rumble interaction.

“I’ve heard that I’m running from her, which is absolutely untrue,” she said. “At one point, she had done this promo saying that I wasn’t ready. I posted a photo of my six-pack and said, ‘I am ready, girl.’ These little moments. Her and I had, maybe, a five-minute moment in the 2018 Royal Rumble and, to this day, people say that’s the match they want to see.

“Sometimes you just have this energy that is palpable. It’s like when Lita and I first faced off. People felt that. When The Rock and [“Stone Cold” Steve] Austin faced off, they felt that. When Sasha and I faced off, I felt it too. It was a good moment. Will we follow up on it? If there is an opportunity, perhaps. Did I wish this was a SmackDown tour? Yes, I did.”

Stratus will be hosting the final live shows prior to WrestleMania 38. When talking about the invite to do so, she spoke about a chance to mix it up with some other superstars.

“They gave me a call and of course I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to host. What does that mean? What does a host do?’ Let’s work with the card and see what could be fun and different,” Stratus said. “For me, it’s a chance to come back and work with some superstars I haven’t yet interacted with.

“I went back in 2019 to work with Charlotte [Flair], but I didn’t get a chance to interact with somebody like Becky Lynch, for example, Bianca Belair had not debuted at the time. There’s a good chance to mix it up with some of the superstars of today… One person I’m very excited to mix it up with is Kevin Owens. I’d called him Canada’s favourite superstar.”

In another interview heading into her hosting duties for the upcoming WWE Live events, she spoke to The B-Team about someone else she would like to get in the ring with.

“Well, I mean after the disrespect that Becky Lynch showed to my friend, WWE Hall Of Famer Lita, probably her. Only because the opportunity could seem like a possibility,” she teased. “Two, you know, if she happens to be at this live event and she runs her mouth, you know, I am not doing yoga with her.” [h/t – Wrestling Inc.]

On if she will appear at WrestleMania 38 on April 2 & 3, Stratus says,

“I don’t know. Listen, I always say I bring the boots with me everywhere I go,” she said. “Because I’ve learned. It’s like you guys, would you always bring your mics, if you never know there might be a random interview, got to have them handy, I’m assuming. I am going to, of course, I will bring my boots. Because you just never know.”
