We are halfway through the qualifying matches for the AEW Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
As we head towards the month of May, eight women will partake in the tournament and four women have qualified so far. Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Red Velvet have secured their spots with two more names being added within the next week. Who will join them?
On the April 15 episode of Rampage, Ruby Soho will be taking on Robyn Renegade. Following this, on the April 20 episode of Dynamite, former AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker will be taking on Danielle Kamela.
Although we have four and soon to be six women set for the Owen Hart, it is unknown what the full brackets will look like. However, one match was confirmed as Toni Storm will be facing Jamie Hayter in the first round.
On this week’s Dynamite, Marina Shafir made quick work of Skye Blue in a short match. She was heckled throughout by Jade Cargill’s Baddie Section while her future opponent looked on from backstage. The Baddie Section included Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan.
Cargill will be facing Shafir and defending her TBS Championship in the process at a later date. Shafir will be her 30th opponent as the champ tries to make her undefeated streak extend to 30-0.
This Saturday, April 16 at Battle of the Belts II, the AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will defend against Nyla Rose in the main event.
In a backstage segment on this week’s Dynamite, Nyla and Vickie Guerrero brought Rosa a cake to celebrate her short title reign. The cake wounded up in the face of Nyla and the two brawled backstage with Nyla coming out on top of the exchange.
