Two matches have been confirmed for the upcoming The Great American Bash episode of NXT 2.0. The event will take place during NXT 2.0’s normal time on Tuesday, July 5.
At the start of the June 28 episode of NXT, the number one contenders were decided for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade won the opportunity to face Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne. They defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter who was still pushing to win their first gold in NXT.
Perez picked up the win for her team by hitting Pop Rox on Chance and getting the pin. As the winner of the Breakout Tournament, Perez has a contract to cash in any championship of her choosing. Winning this number one contenders match along with Jade does not cash in her contract according to commentary. She will still be able to use her contract in the future.
The second match set for The Great American Bash will be Tiffany Stratton taking on Wendy Choo. The two have been in a heated feud for the past several weeks. Stratton did a promo last week on how much she hated Choo. This week, Choo had her own pre-taped response.
Kiana James took on Indi Hartwell this week and what only could be said was an upset. James defeated Hartwell but wouldn’t be done clean. After avoiding Pretty Savage, James would stack up Hartwell using the ropes as leverage to get the pin.
After kicking the medical doctor out of the way from an update on Alba Fyre, Lash Legend gave an update on her condition. Legend took out Fyre last week during their match with Fyre’s baseball bat which caused a disqualification in their match. Legend says that she has put Fyre on the shelf permanently while warning the rest of the division to stay out of her way.
Lastly, a returning Nikkita Lyons challenged the NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose to a non-title bout. Lyons had returned from her injury after having to be removed from the Breakout Tournament.
The match ended in a DQ as the tag team champions interfered to help out Rose. Jade & Perez came out to help out Lyons fend off the champions.
