Women’s Royal Rumble history making stats

There’s a lot to celebrate today in the women’s wrestling fandom and after last night’s first Women’s Royal Rumble match it’s time to look at who makes it into the history books.

The first ever woman to enter the men’s Royal Rumble was Chyna. Behind her came Beth Phoenix and Awesome Kong, known as Kharma in WWE. Women have been trying to break the glass ceiling in WWE for a long time and last night they smashed through in a huge way.

Let’s take a look at some stats from last night’s main event:

  • The inaugural winner: Asuka
  • The Iron Woman: Sasha Banks for lasting 54:46 according to WWE. The second longest participant was Becky Lynch
  • The first Eliminator: Lita when she eliminated Mandy Rose
  • The quickest Elimination: Vickie Guerrero when she was eliminated by Becky Lynch, Michelle McCool, Ruby Riott, and Sasha Banks
  • The most Eliminations: Michelle McCool with five
  • The first participant to represent NXT: Kairi Sane
  • The youngest competitor: Liv Morgan at 23 years of age
  • The oldest competitor: Jacqueline at 54 years of age
  • The first woman to enter both a men’s and women’s Royal Rumble: Beth Phoenix

Along with these records it’s being reported by PWInsider that Michelle McCool and Molly Holly were the first legends to be contacted for their participation in the match.

Molly Holly had publicly stated that she would not be in the Rumble match as she was not in ring shape, however that was completely untrue as she had been training for the match for quite sometime, and trains wrestlers at Shawn Daivari and Ken Anderson’s wrestling school.

Additionally on Lilian Garcia’s most recent podcast, Trish Stratus revealed she had been contacted quickly to participate as well and was taken aback by it. She said she began training harder and changing her diet to get back into ring shape. For more insight into her preparations for the match, listen to Lilian’s podcast here.

What do you think about these first records? Who do you look forward to see breaking them in the future? What legends do you want to see in 2019? Sound off in the comments below.
