Your Two Cents: Favorite Moments Since Last Leap Day

“Your Two Cents” is our interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.

This week, we’re asking this: In honor of Leap Day, we want to know: What is your favorite women’s wrestling moment from the last 4 years (that is, from the last Leap Day in 2008 to now)? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Our Two Cents

Batting for Team DD this week, it’s Erin giving us her personal opinion on this week’s topic:

Erin: It think it would be hard for me to pick a moment in the last 4 years that didn’t include Melina. She really hit her stride as a singles competitor in 2008, winning the Women’s Title for the first time just before Leap Day that year. There are lot of moments I can think of in that span, but the one that stands out most to me at this time is her match with Beth Phoenix at 2008’s One Night Stand. It was the first ever Divas “I Quit” match, and gave Beth and Melina ample opportunity to play to their strengths and put on an extremely compelling match. The end, with Melina folded like a pretzel and submitting, was a moment that sticks in my mind even today, almost 4 years later.

Your Two Cents

@CoraByNature | I think it was when Michelle McCool won her first ever title on 20th July 2008. After 4 years in the business she finally earned her first ever Diva’s Championship at the Great American Bash. I think that Michelle really deserved this and I loved her title reign (and her attires at the time) but i was a bit annoyed when she turned heel. I loved how that heel angle turned into Lay-Cool though.
@frankmiller187 | When Portia Perez won ACW’s Queen of Queens tournament in 2010. That made me a fan of hers for life. Star making moment.
Josue Guzman | Mae Young being inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008. This is a woman who truly deserves the honor of being called the “pioneer” when it comes to women’s wrestling. This is a woman who has been wresting for nearly 80 years, entertaining so many generations of fans! Although she was in her golden years by the time I saw her on WWE, she was just as entertaining as any other wrestler. Being from her hilarious feuds/segments, taking some serious bumps from a lot of men or the will of stepping into the ring when she is 100 years old, it was nice to see Mae honored and inducted to the Hall of Fame just like her best friend The Fabulous Moolah.
@KaiteFJ07 | My favorite diva moment from the last four years would have to be Eve Torres‘s heel turn. I know it just happened, but Eve got the biggest heat for a woman we seen in a very long time that wasn’t from Vickie Guerrero. I the last time I can remember a diva getting that type of heat was when Lita was heel. I love what Eve is doing right now. I can’t wait to see where this turn goes. I’m really hoping she can get a match at Wrestlemania!
Ozzy Valentine | That’s easy, it would have to be Kharma‘s 2011 debut in WWE. We heard the rumors, we saw the promos, yet even then we were skeptical she would ever debut. After LayCool’s demise, Just like everyone at the arena that night, I was shocked and excited to see Kharma make her way down the ramp. After she planted McCool, EVERYONE was forced to take notice and I knew something special was happening. It was such a great moment. As a women’s wrestling fan, I knew retribution had come for the division. Even the Lita and Trish Stratus (Divas I love) appearances/moments of recent years paled in comparison.
William Smith | So much has happened since then! Lots of great mainstream moments: Kong/Gail Kim, Beth/Melina I Quit Match, Maryse‘s great 2008 heel run, Survivor Series 08 tag, McCool/Melina NOC09, Beth/Mickie James/Melina JD 08, Sarita/Alissa Flash TNA debut match, Taylor Wilde/Sarita vs. Kong/Hamada, Kharma’s debut, Mickie/Tara cage match, Naomi, Natalya‘s debut. SO MUCH happened LOL!

And now we turn it over to you…
