Hola Knockout fans and welcome to this week’s Impact Write-Up. We enter this final month of 2016 with a brand new TNA Knockouts Champion after Gail Kim made the decision to vacate the title due to injury. Elsewhere, we are also treated to a Thanksgiving Fallout after Allie completely snapped against Maria Kanelllis and Laurel Van Ness during last week’s dinner table segment.

Our first Knockouts sighting come from the ever-so flirtatious Laurel, who says she’ll need to some “cheering up” for Braxton Sutter after he failed to capture the X-Division title. Is he even really considered an X-Division star?

When Allie asks why she never sees Laurel and Braxton out together, Laurel explains that the pair are “keeping things on the down low”. Laurel goes on to say that while Braxton may feel sorry for Allie, she has no sympathy for the fan favorite and that by the end of the night, she’ll be without a job.

To address Allie’s employment status, we head to the ring to find Maria (though the Impact Zone refers to her as “Pie Face”) alongside Laurel. Tis the season of giving, Maria starts off by patting herself on the back due to her charitable persona. She says she has given TNA fans a role model they can look up to. While a few may appreciate Maria’s effort, most overlook it and with that, Maria calls out Allie.

Allie wastes no time apologizing for her accidental face pie toss to Maria last week but Maria isn’t buying. Instead, Maria accuses Allie of being jealous of Laurel’s relationship with Braxton and adds that she has been the worst assistant to have ever worked for her.

Laurel then takes her licks to Allie by revealing she went out on a hot date with Braxton the previous night. An angered Allie bites back but Maria inserts herself back in the dispute, getting into Allie’s face to belittle her again and calling her a “stupid bitch”.

Naturally, this causes Allie to slap Maria across the face. Allie! Allie! Allie! The good feel moment is cut short when Laurel takes Allie down with a right forearm and beats her down. Score one for the Heels this week.

We move on to our main event of the week, Six Sides of Steel for the Knockouts title between Jade and Rosemary:

The former Knockouts Champion Gail Kim makes an entrance first for this big match-up. She formally relinquishes the Knockouts title and finds a nearby close seat to fully support her Korean sista Jade!

On the subject of the possibility of Gail retiring, guest commentator Madison Rayne notes that Gail has said during their world travels together that she will continue to wrestle until she is no longer able to give 110%

After our contenders make their entrances and Jeremy Borash gives his big-feel introductions, the match begins! The Knockouts scramble through the cage door, Josh Matthews making it known that this match will be determined by pinfall or submission, and trade fighting fists against each other. Rosemary wins the tussle after running Jade’s face to the steel steps.

Rosemary takes a look under the six sided ring to find a trash can that she tosses inside the ring along with her opponent. Jade gets back on her feet, able to take Rosemary down with a variety of kicks and a gutwrench suplex before heading to a commercial break.

When we return, Jade remains in control of the match, delivering a head scissors take down and several knee shots to Rosemary. Jade dashes towards Rosemary but comes to a halt when the Demon Assassin teases a mist attack. Having slow down Jade, Rosemary begins to land some strong clothesline attacks and running Jade’s face across the steel cage.

Jade tries to mount a comeback with rapid kicks but gets caught in Rosemary’s clutches and suplexed to the cage! Remember that trash can from the start of the match? Well, it’s about to be put to use as Rosemary places it carefully next to Jade’s right shoulder, looking to repeat her Coast to Coast attack from two weeks ago.

The plan doesn’t follow through this time as Jade gets up in time, uses Rosemary’s weapon against her and knocks off Rosemary from the top rope via hurricaranna! Now it is Rosemary’s turn to feel the punishment of the cage, as Jade throws her face first and rams Rosemary’s back to the steel walls of the cage.

Jade goes for her packaged piledriver finisher but Rosemary manages to counter out with a beautiful German Suplex. The Knockouts then begin to climb the cage but Jade is able to knock Rosemary off. Jade continues to climb until she reaches the very top of the cage.

From there, Jade takes careful aim to Rosemary and soars from the heavens to hit a big time crossbody! The big risk only earns a two count over Rosemary. Jade takes a chance for another aerial attack but this time Rosemary catches up.

She blinds Jade with a mist attack, mounts her over the shoulder leading to the Red Wedding and three count pin. Rosemary is your new Knockouts Champion… and from the outside cage, Gail isn’t too thrilled about this.

Thoughts: A huge sigh of relief in knowing that we have finally been given a MOTY from the Knockouts.

This main event was really fun to watch between two breakthrough stars from TNA. After Jade’s Dollhouse split from earlier this year, this is the kind of match I’ve been hoping to see from someone like Jade. She has the crowd behind her and spots like the amazing top cross body makes you want to see even more!

In my eyes, Rosemary has just been the most interesting Knockout of 2016; granted it took her towards the end of the year to actually interact and enter in the Knockouts division but to see her hold the gold made it that much worth waiting for.

As great of a match this was, I do have to say that I wish these two had more time to build for a longer feud. Had Gail not gotten injured when she did, I really think we could have seen more promos from Rosemary leading up to her eventual title win. I also think that Rosemary winning the title over the likes of Gail would have given Rosemary more of a rub (she already has one win over Gail) but from the looks of it, the two could meet down the line.

Another issue I do feel the need to address, as other fans have mentioned, is the hot potatoes reigns we’ve seen the Knockouts title undergo. Just this year alone (including this match), the title has been traded hands six different times – with five of those times being under a new name. For the most part, none of these reigns had been memorable or had any meaning behind them. I would call myself a liar if I didn’t say these hot potatoes reigns, like the Raw Women’s title, has put a damper on the belt. I’m happy for Rosemary but I really hope that TNA management can give us a memorable reign this time around.

As for the secondary Knockouts storyline, I think Allie continues to do well in her role across Maria, who I also give props too. The split from these two is long overdue and I’m glad that things are finally moving forward with it. My only real complaint is that Allie’s breakaway from her bullies seems to stem from her jealousy of Braxton/Laurel when I think it should really be for the nonstop name calling and bullying she’s had to endure up to this point.

The love triangle cattiness just feels unnecessary and a bit out of place but if the payoff leads to Allie getting in the ring and actually being able to wrestle the likes of Laurel then so be it.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Impact? How do you think Rosemary’s reign as Knockouts Champion will play out? How would you book the Allie/Maria saga next? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Rose-Quartz

Allie right now is the top babyface. But where is Marti Bell and Madison Rayne and Raquel? This match was amazing from the knockouts. But there are so many factors missing. So far I’m only interested in Allie storyline with Maria Laurel and Braxton.

    • mking2590

Raquel and Marti Bell are doing explosion matching where there belong

      • Hojo’s Deadly Diving Elbow ?

Lmaooo even though Marti can be entertaining when given the chance

      • KatyaMenelli

Yea Raquel but not Marti. She’s entertaining and could be one of the top knockouts if they would push her.

    • Hojo’s Deadly Diving Elbow ?

Last I heard Madison was working on the creative team like Christy. Love that you made note of Allie’s popularity when her and Rosemary have some rich history together on the circuit, particularly a Buffy/Demon complex. Next year if they really want to pull the trigger on things, give Rosemary a long ass reign at least 7-8 months and have the person uncrown her be Allie but finally evolved into that badass persona, and since they’ve developed her as a non-wrestling figure, give her character the story line of “going away” for a bit to train under the mentorship of Gail or something while Jade continues to feud with Rosemary and Sienna gets back into the picture or has a side feud with Laurel, I thought instead of bringing Chelsea into that role they should’ve just signed Taylor Made though and re-established Made In Sin

  • Divalicious

TNA is a mess. The only entertaining thing they had going on in the division is the Allie thing and they dragged it out that it’s not even fun anymore. That whole segment was a cringefest. As for the title match, I was not really interested due to the lack of build up but it was a good match. Hopefully she keeps the title for at least 4 months though because I am sick of the short reigns.

    • Deadman TCB

      Oh go away.

  • Divalicious

2016 has been a really bad year for the Knockouts. I hope 2017 is better. Maria is leaving (and hopefully Gail too) so there’s hope for the division. They need to get rid of Brandi obviously and sign a couple more girls and start the division fresh since all they well have left are girls that have been there for less than 2 years.

    • KatyaMenelli

Get rid of Brandi? She has been there for 2 months and is already close to being as over as Allie, Jade, Gail, and Rosemary. She’s still learning how to wrestle, so she’s going to be green as CA bud, but she definitely has a team that could carry her to a good match while she still learns, which she improves week by week as I can see on TV. I do agree that they need to sign more girls. I was thinking maybe a Japanese Indy Girl and a Luchadora to mix things up.

  • GailKimStan

The optimistic in me hopes that this match is a sign that a new era is coming for the knockouts.
Rosemary is just WOW, i can’t believe how perfect her character is. I also loved how behind Jade the crowd was. Overall it was a classic match imo.

    • Francisco Baguer

I’m sorry but the only way a new era for the knockouts can happen is when Gail finally retires & everyone else get a chance to be in the top spot.

      • GailKimStan

The women just main event impact and had an awesome match and it wasn’t about Gail…but i get your point, i believe too that tna overpushing Gail can hurt the division

        • Francisco Baguer

They have been doing it for 5 years since she came back in 2011. Gail pretty much did the segment with Jade of making her protege because she’s jealous of her & is will get involved with her to try & get herself over. Bottom line: Gail is greedy, has a huge ego, every time she gets pushed, everyone else gets overshadowed, she refuses to let anyone else have the spotlight unless she’s there take credit for there success.

          • DollahMAB

I was behind you until I realized you weren’t pitching a storyline for Heel Gail. Gail doesn’t control the way she’s booked, she’s just held in high regards by management as she should be. It’s no different to Charlotte and Sasha who are non-stop featured on RAW.

          • Francisco Baguer

Listen, I actually want a Gail Kim Heel Turn. If Gail is being in such high regards like you say she is, then why doesn’t she just turn heel? It would really good for to do right now, because she’s been a John Cena babyface forever.

          • Francisco Baguer

      • Juan

I predict Gail will feud with Rosemary in 2017 and probably end up putting her over in a big way. Gail is known to be very humble when it comes to putting talent over (Taryn, Brooke, Havok)

        • Francisco Baguer

Oh really Taryn, Brooke, & Havok? Where are they now? They all left TNA mostly because the company sucks but also because Gail was the only top star TNA wanted to use.

          • Juan

They all left for their own reasons. Havok wasn’t needed anymore because Kong returned. Taryn became a Christian and retired. Brooke got pregnant and left.

Gail put Brooke over big time in 2012. She pinned Gail cleanly in her home state of Texas at TNA’s 10th anniversary show, Slammiversary. In doing so she ended Gail’s longest title reign to date.

Gail put Taryn over in the iconic Last Knockout Standing match in 2013. They were rivals up until Taryn decided to leave wrestling. During their feud though, Gail ate most of the pin falls.

As for Havok, every time Gail and her fought Gail was on the losing end. Havok actually beat her for the Knockouts Championship.

Don’t try and claim that Gail has never put any one over because she has! Blame circumstances and other women dropping the ball for TNA having to constantly go back to Gail. The only instance I can think of where Gail was over pushed was 2015 when she plowed through the Dollhouse (Jade, Marti and Rebel). Let’s hope Rosemary doesn’t drop the ball or else we’ll get a repeat of that.

          • glassjaw

Not entirely true. Brooke had more than her fair share at cracking the whip – not TNA’s fault she was a sourpuss when she didn’t get her own way and used social media to throw thinly veiled barbs at others. Terell chose another pathway altogether, in spite of being the company’s top female heel at the time. Less said about Havok.

  • Gabriella Panajotova

TNA has no depth. It feels like an indie show and that’s not a compliment.

    • mking2590

No ROH and NXT women divisions have no depth

      • Marthajcanizales

      • Gabriella Panajotova

Just because NXT is on a bad series of uneventfulness and ROH is…ROH, doesn’t make TNA any better. :)

    • Deadman TCB

      You really are a moron.

      • Gabriella Panajotova

Wow. Funny cause I’m not the one calling people names on the internet. :)

  • Jazmine Monique Perciann Gordo

I hope this brings freshness to the knockouts going into 2017. I want TNA to bring in some more girls. The match between Rosemary and Jade was great! The segment with Maria , LVN, and Allie was good. I wish they had Allie leave them sooner. Besides Madison being in charge if the knockouts, they should have Gail help as well. Such a great week for the kos!

  • Francisco Baguer

TNA no depth & Rosemary may be champion now, but just wait until Gail uses her Super-Cena powers to bury her & take the belt back. You know they are going to have Fail Kim bury everyone like she has for the last 5 years.

    • Deadman TCB

      She’s retiring.

  • Cookie Munster :D ?

    Maria has bad mic skills.

  • Cookie Munster :D ?

    Maria can’t sell a slap.

  • Cookie Munster :D ?

    I can’t stand LVN.

    • Windyhawaii

TNA just brought her in and pretended like she had been a part of the roster for awhile, I can’t really get behind her either.

      • Cookie Munster :D ?

I agree. Allie should’ve kicked her behind.

    • Deadman TCB

Good, you’re meant to hate her.

  • Hojo’s Deadly Diving Elbow ?

I know the KO’s aren’t new to main eventing, but for a match of this high volume and with two women who are relatively still new to viewers to get to perform like this on that level is fantastic and despite this being taped before it, for this to come after Raw’s ME is such a special treat for us women’s wrestling fans, SD! and LU also delivered. I know Rosemary is always compared to her in one way or another but Jade is like the new Daffney with her dare-devil tactics and keeps getting those hardcore matches under her belt while Rosemary has been developed as the most intriguing member of this division with an interesting but mysterious background they made sure to elaborate on a few months ago and though I felt like slapping the title on her was too soon as a proper chase would’ve done wonders for her with Gail, injury put it on lock for now and instead gave us this wonderful bout, so I’m NOT complaining at all about this, if anything it’s about the fact a few more signings to further flesh out the division would be great. But I don’t care what anyone says, this match was fucking awesome. I was kinda surprised Steve and Abyss didn’t get involved but the last thing we needed was a fluke victory. Absolutely LOVED it, very competitive and not entirely spot-based. OFC Rosemary using her “mist of death” aided her lol but it was expected and befitting, neither woman came out of this looking weak and casual viewers gained even more respect for them afterward. Amazing job to them!!!!

  • Hojo’s Deadly Diving Elbow ?

And TBH this dynamic with Allie/Maria/LVN is starting to drag on, it’ll probably lead to a real match with Maria but Goddamn girl, you should’ve been dabbed her with some “handy” contour lmao and been on the best “training regimen” by now to kick her ass, LVN being in the way is annoying as hell

  • Hojo’s Deadly Diving Elbow ?

In general it’s a bit irritating we have to go through the “Allie learning to wrestle” phase when Cherry’s capable of putting on great matches, hopefully they sell her as a natural and she gets accelerated skills lol

  • 3???????

Welp hopefully this is a start of a new beginning for tna, u can’t go backward after this .

  • Jamal

Good match. This could be the promising reboot the division needs. There’s a lot of talent that they need to start utilizing better

  • Juan

Rosemary as Knockouts champion is just perfect!! She’s been the most interesting woman on the roster for the entirety of 2016 so making her champion seems just! I’m glad she became champion and didn’t end up like her predecessors Roxxi and Daffney, talented and popular but never got a chance to call themselves champion!

The match was amazing and both women delivered! Jade is super talented and is just built for these kind of matches! Most likely Jade will feud with Rosemary to a losing effort before the champ moves on to feud with and possibly end Gail’s career? All i ask for is a long title reign for Rosemary that ends in an epic feud with Allie!!!

    Allie vs Rosemary MUST happen!!!

    • ?K . A . T ?

Roxxi was my favourite back in the day for TNA, it still annoys me that she never got the title. She would’ve been an awesome champ!!

      • KatyaMenelli

Omg yes! She was my fav at the time, too. Hated how they always talked about how she is a future Knockouts Champion and keep her in the title picture, but always made her lose when the title on the line. She is like the Naomi of TNA.

        • ?K . A . T ?

Completely agree! I really wanted her to be the one to end Kong’s second reign considering the week before Turning Point 2008 Kong attacked her. It honestly felt like the perfect time to do a feud with them and have Roxxi finally win the title.

  • Gato_wiska

Rosemary’s reign must last 8 months.

These should be her feuds for the 7 months:

    1. Jade
2.Fatal four way against Sienna,Maria and Allie
    3. Racquel, I think Rosemary can carry her
    4.Gail Kim
    5. Fatal fourway again against Madison, Brandy,LVN
    6.Reby
    7.Madison Rain
    8.Allie

    • KatyaMenelli

No. Wtf!? That would be terrible. She should be beating all every other girl randomly except Allie. Mmm-mmm

      • Gato_wiska

she wont have depth if she wont feud with them one by one. The fatal four ways on the other hand are to keep some girls relevant

  • Crazy. #RIPMae

Yesss. I loved this match. The best knockouts match of this year for sure. I’m glad it was at the end of the year because it’s gonna get fans pumped up next year for the Knockouts Division. An Allie and Rosemary feud could really save the Knockouts, TBH. Rosemary as champ is actually refreshing. We can get a good Gail and Rosemary feud also a good match or a Jade and Rosemary feud because this match was great!

  • Ollie Byron Roché

    The way I see it,
There is nothing more Gail Kim or Madison Rayne can really do but theyve had wonderful careers in TNA,
Rose, Allie and Jade are TNA’s future..especially Allie.
Sienna and Marti Belle have been missed opportunities but perhaps they should go
Reby, Laurel Van Ness and Raquel we will just have to wait and see

  • Savannah Balenciaga Couture

I hope Gail is done, at least title wise. Like we don’t need to see her with the belt again; mind you I just don’t want her to come for Angelina’s 7th title reign. LET HER HAVE SOMETHING! LOL

    • KatyaMenelli

Lol yes!! Let Angelina keep the history. I’d love to see Gail in a side feud with Marti where Gail comes back and is ready to go back to the title, and out of nowhere Marti attacks her. the reason behind it is that because Gail has made so much history here, she gets free title shots without even earning her way back up. two trade off wins before having a rubber match

  • glassjaw
    • Sadboy

I kneww I wasnt going crazyy lmaooo

    • KatyaMenelli

Omg I thought I was the only one that noticed that lmfao!

  • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

Rosemary would be good material for WWE in NXT. Her character is great.

    • Deadman TCB

Going to have to wait a long time for that.

      • Miguel Orona Rodríguez

It may never happen. Is not like WWE is ever looking to sing a TNA talent. I’m just saying, this girl could be gold somewhere else.
