Exclusive: The Bella Twins Discuss Leaving WWE, Response to Being Called ‘Models’, Divas Title & More

It’s been two weeks since we lost our Twin Magic on Monday nights, but for the first time since their WWE departure, the Bella Twins — Brie and Nikki Bella, aka Nicole and Brianna Garcia — are opening up to Diva Dirt in a world exclusive interview.

For the first time, Nicole and Bri discuss their decision to leave WWE in detail, what might have happened if one wanted to leave but not the other, and whether they may return down the line.

Plus, we take a trip down memory lane discussing their start in the business, the early days on SmackDown, their feud on ECW and much, much more. Nicole and Brianna share some funny stories in their signature humorous style (there were many laughs!) and find out what it’s like being the only sisters to win gold in WWE.

On top of that, the twins respond to being considered ‘models’ by one segment of fans, their take on ‘that article’ on WWE.com last year, and Colt Cabana’s comments on his podcast.

I love how they addressed Victoria, at least they were great to work with… I hope to see them return though not to soon..

  • YouCanLookButYouCan’tTouch

One of the best diva dirt interviews in my opinion. They’re just so sweet and real about everything.I definitely can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.I’m proud to be a member of the Bella Army :)

Great Interview I really miss them respect them a hell of a lot more than I did before!!!!!

  • jcarcano12

    Twin magic

  • number1AngelinaLovefan

Great interview by the two twins. And seriously even they wanted to be DESTROYED by Kharma…come on WWE

  • soju81

Thank you for interviewing them. I’m not surprised they complimented Victoria, Gail and Kharma. I just really wish we could’ve seen the feuds between them and Gail Kim/Kharma have a proper ending. Like they said the feud with Gail was abruptly cut off. I also would’ve loved to have seen Kharma destroy them at the PPV.

  • Jhonmarco

CANNOT wait to listen to this.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

loved the interview very very much, could have been alittle more juicier lol, but very good haha

  • rico

Wasnt long nor juicy enough….needed more questions. It was a good interview however. I wish they wouldve asked if the twins thought the twin magic finish was as played out as us fans thought!! lol

  • http://twitter.com/BroskiRomano Ryan

Na rico Twin Magic can never be played out…thats just overthinking the sitch
Bellas rock big time and are sexy as hell…kind of look like if they were Megan Fox’s less attractive twin sisters or something! Plus these chicks can wrestle!
As far as the whole modle/wrestler debate…its a stupid pointless debate…its either you can or CANT wrestle..Bellas obviously could…and real talk guys like me dont want to see nothing but Beth Phoenixes or Saradelrays in the ring…id loose intrest FAST! Great wrestlers just not very attractive…
When you have something special with balance of Sex appeal and Hard Action like Trish Stratus Jazz and Victoria did…THATS perfection!!
And trust me…only if you TRULY love the wrestling business would you want to be crushed by Awesome Kong! =D
Mad props to the bellas for great matches with AJ Lee and for Nikki being the womens champ after beating Beth Phoenix in a sweet match!
The Colt Cabana…ehhh…Im siding with broski Colt on this one haha..

    • Jhonmarco

That’s the thing, we barely get the SDRs or Beths of the world. Personally for myself, I prefer a SDR or Beth over a Bella or Brooke.

    • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

@Ryan i disagree how is beth unattractive???..i know its your opinion but beth is something special….

    • fragile

“and real talk guys like me dont want to see nothing but Beth Phoenixes or Saradelrays in the ring…id loose intrest FAST!”

real talk, in the wwe you know that you’re more likely to get another ex model/dancer than a beth or sara types so i guess you don’t have anything to worry about.

your comment on the sex appeal/action combo did save your post.that’s cool i can see that point of view. :)

and more real talk (hey this goes both ways) having to see ‘hot females’ like the bellas that i don’t think are good wrestlers/or aren’t allowed to show that they’re good.

makes me lose interest more than seeing a beth or sara wrestle.aka very good wrestlers that don’t fit the ‘she’s hot’ mode.

i can see ‘hot’ females everywhere and all over the net gimme some good wrestlers.

      • Raekon

        Even more real talk:

        – the del rays and phoenixes would still have a quite limited moveset in WWE no matter how great they are while having to be “girly” 24/7.

So you can have a whole roster of phoenixes and del rays and you will still get a programming of like 30 seconds matches filled with slaps, hairpulls and roll ups.

That’s also mainly the sad part that many fans DOESN’T understand OR understand but still ignore, blaming it to divas that were previously modeling or dancing, ignoring the fact that almost all of them had a athletic background and the passion for wrestling already.

        • fragile

          raekon, for the pinfall. :)

  • ChrisxLita

I was so tired of these two but I have my respect for them and what they stand for and their beliefs. WHAT A GREAT INTERVIEW!

  • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

The interview was awesome, touched on everything that went on with the bellas & i never knew they worked in the ring 8-10 hours aday…i wish wwe let them show more of what they could do….

  • HeyChrissy

I loved this interview.I wish it were longer, because I bet they had alot more to say,lol

    • http://www.diva-dirt.com Melanie

We could’ve talked to them for hours! Sadly they had to go to an event. :(

      • jcarcano12

        Hi

  • Ouellet

So proud of them, hope that in the Q3/Q4 of 2012 them come back and give some Twin Magic to Layla, Eve and……KHARMA!!

  • CursedMilkshake

It might sound stupid but I wish these would be typed out as well so it takes less time to hear/read what they have to say. But I guess other sites would just copy and paste the text without crediting…

  • Jhonmarco

Wondeful interview. The Bellas come off very laid back & geniunely nice people.

Wish them nothing but the best. As for the Colt Cabana issue, the girls do make a good point. Not too sure about it though, eh whatever. Anyway loved it, 40 minutes well spent.

  • MelinaMickieF3v3r

Love The Bellas ! Wonderful Interview I cant wait until they return someday…. Bella Army!!

  • lbthewrestlingnerd

The interview was fine, I’m still not a fan of them due to their poor wrestling skills though. Hey, at least they’re happy

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

I’d like to add because of some comments…. *cough*

I personally think that Sara del Rey is extremely attractive and I would take her over every WWE diva. I also care way more about talent than looks, a female wrestler having good looks is just a bonus, it’s not needed.

    • TheRealSmoothG

Would your opinion change if they continued to work in the business and improved their skills?

      • lbthewrestlingnerd

Yes, it would. I don’t care if women come from modeling, acting, etc. if they turn out to be good in the ring. One example is Hikaru Shida, who comes from acting, but she’s fairly talented.

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

If they really worked that long, they either wouldn’t be horrible or it shows they don’t care. Take a look at Veda Scott and Saturyne who are two very new women in wrestling, they can wrestle fairly decently…. somebody who’s spent years working hours and hours should be better

      • redsandman99

I see your point but I do feel sometimes, no matter how hard you work at something, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to be the greatest at it.

        • Jhonmarco

Agreed, Velvet Sky & Becky Bayless are prime examples of that.

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Then quit. You shouldn’t be on national TV if you’re horrible.

I agree with Jhonmarco about those women too.

    • Raekon

You had read from several Divas already that the women in WWE are restricted to their movesets no matter how good they are in the ring or not and yet you feel the need to address “poor wrestling skills” without having a clue if they are really poor on their in ring.

Really tiring how stubborn and selfjustified some people are.
I guess that no matter how many people will tell you, you will never change in any shape or form.

Seriously, I don’t even know WHY you are “gracing us” with your presense on this site when you are against each and every diva and knockout or at least 99,9% of them, no matter how good they are.

  • TheRealSmoothG

I will listen to this later, what I would like to say is that I wish they would stay in the wrestling business to “earn” that fan “segment” who called them models. As it’s based around dedication to wrestling and not just the WWE.

If they continued to wrestle and showed the respected the sport/business, it’d mean more to those fans than any words they could say. It does seem from responses that they came off well, which is good.

But, it doesn’t seem that some of the more pressing issues around comments by Maria K and other were brought up which is a shame. Tough questions do need to be asked.

  • Marlon Eric

That article didn’t “bash” model divas. And so to say, the criticism fans give “model divas” aren’t unwarranted. I’m not one of those who criticize them, but the majority of others do for one reason. Because the WWE doesn’t want you to care about their divas division. I wish in one interview, people can stop sucking up to WWE and express genuine frustration with being treated like nothing.

WWE can be your family and friends and whatever else, but if you wanna “stand up for yourself” – the divas as a whole should stand up for being viewed as wrestlers. Which WWE doesn’t even believe they are.

    • fragile

      thanks, marlon. :)

  • Raekon

Thanks a lot for the great interview DD! :)
    I loved it.

Miss the Bellas already because I always thought they were special no matter what people said.

All the best to whatever they intend to do with their lifes!

  • Katie

I miss the Twins, they were different than any other Diva. Their bickering segments were fun to watch. They were decent in the ring, I remember watching Brie vs Beth, granted it’s Beth, but it was a great match better than the previous match I have seen with Melina & Alicia. I know their bodies needed a break with 5 years of traveling and everything, but I hope they come back soon. I loved the interview it was one of DD’s best! I like how you brought up Colt, because I knew it wasn’t true. I’m surprised what Maria was saying wasn’t brought up.

    • TheBeautifulPeople.

They werent really different. They dressed like another diva. Also, became heels like any other diva too..
