Becky Lynch reveals she was nearly cut before NXT debut

Becky Lynch celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by reminiscing about her early struggles in NXT. Earlier today on Twitter, she posted a picture from her debut match against Summer Rae with an inspirational caption.

Before she became “The Man,” or even the steampunk “Lass Kicker,” Becky was introduced as a smiling Irish step dancer. On the Jun. 26, 2014 episode of NXT, Lynch defeated Summer in her NXT debut. She worked the Irish dancer gimmick until she turned heel on Oct. 23, joining Team B.A.E. with Sasha Banks.

The Man didn’t have a run with the developmental brand as fruitful as her fellow Four Horsewomen. In fact, she’s the only one of the four who was never crowned NXT Women’s Champion. Lynch debuted a look that she became known for on the main roster at NXT TakeOver: Rival in February of 2015.

Her initial gimmick has been the subject of derision, but everyone has to start somewhere. It’s amazing to see where Becky Lynch is today. What do you think of Becky’s journey so far?
