Utami Hayashishita joins the list as another talent from Japan who has been widely popular at such a young age. As a child to a teenager, Utami was on a reality show that documented her 12-person family. She would find joy in wrestling as she watched Tajiri in WWE.
Utami started training in 2018 and made her debut with STARDOM in a match against Jungle Kyona. That match ended in a time-limit draw. Within her first year as a wrestler, she would already win gold as the Goddess of Stardom Champions with Momo Watanabe. She won the Newcomer Award for her first year by Tokyo Sports. Utami would win the tag titles two more times while with STARDOM.
In 2019, still early in her career, Utami would go to Pro Wrestling EVE in the United Kingdom. She won the Pro Wrestling Eve International Championship when she dethroned the inaugural champion, Viper (Piper Niven). She would lose the title to Jamie Hayter in a three-way which also included Nina Samuels. Utami would continue to collect the gold in STARDOM which included the top title, World of Stardom Championship, in 2020 when she defeated Mayu Iwatani.
Utami would become the fourth leader of Queen’s Quest in 2022 and eventually, in 2023 took some time away to go to the United States and wrestle some on the indies there. Once she returned to STARDOM, it wasn’t much longer that she would have her exit announced as she would join the STARDOM co-founder Rossy Ogawa in Marigold. Ogawa was fired from STARDOM in 2024. Utami stands firm in being the face of Marigold as she is the current Marigold World Champion. She defeated Sareee who was the inaugural champion. In 2024, she was able to face WWE’s IYO SKY in Marigold for the first time. It was named a Queen of Queen match as both women at one time were leaders of Queen’s Quest. SKY would win this bout.
While in STARDOM Utami would have memorable feuds with Giulia and Syuri. Her feud with Syuri has been credited as one of the best rivalries in STARDOM’s history.
At the young age of 26, Utami has certainly revolutionized the Japanese scene of wrestling and has become a worldwide name as well.
