Mandy Rose Retains NXT Women’s Title At Heatwave

This week’s NXT episode was titled Heatwave and Mandy Rose had her back against the wall with perhaps her toughest opponent to date in that of Zoey Stark. Before we get to that match, Roxanne Perez was on the hunt for some retribution against her former best friend Cora Jade.

Perez starts the match by charging Jade and didn’t waste any time for the bell to ring. Perez capitalizes on the momentum from her initial offense with two suicide dives from Jade trying to escape the ring.

Perez continues a lot of offense throughout the match and tries to put Jade away multiple times. Frustration certainly sets in for her as she goes for Pop Rox but Jade counters for a near fall of her own. In the final moments of the match, Jade tried to use her kendo stick but swung and missed. Perez took it from her but was distracted by the referee who told her to drop the weapon. Jade hits the DDT on the kendo stick for the win.

The second women’s match of the night had Mandy Rose defending her NXT Women’s Title against Zoey Stark. Stark won a number one contender’s 20-woman Battle Royal in her return from injury to earn this match-up.

Rose & Stark start the matchup by brawling outside the ring, but when they come back from a commercial break Toxic Attraction attempts to get involved. This brings out Nikkita Lyons who brawls with Gig Dolin and Jacy Jayne as they head to the back. Rose starts to gain momentum even with her back-up removed from ringside. Rose tangles Stark’s leg in the ropes before removing the leg brace from the surgically repaired knee of her challenger. In the final moments, Rose hits a knee strike to Stark while wearing the knee brace to get the victory.

A promo for Tiffany Stratton vs. Wendy Choo aired. These two women have been feuding for quite some time now and it will all culminate in the ring next week in a Lights Out match.

Blair Davenport made a shocking appearance on NXT 2.0. The NXT UK talent was in a backstage segment where she confronted Indi Hartwell and informed her that she would become a future NXT Women’s Champion. For more on that, you can click here.

As a last note, Santos Escobar lost his match against Tony D’Angelo which means he has to leave NXT. This may be a call up for him and the rest of Legado del Fantasma which means Elektra Lopez may be heading to the main roster if that is the case.
