Last month Paige shared a positive update about how her neck feels awesome. The news was warmly received by her fans who would like nothing better than to see her back in the ring.
The former two-time Divas Champion took to Twitter to deliver a message adding further fuel to the fires of speculation surrounding her wrestling future.
In a simple one-sentence post Paige revealed “I’m not done yet.”
Shortly after posting the tweet Paige was on Twitch and had this to say:
“I’m not fucking done, I’m not done yet. This is going to be my comeback story. I’m inspired. I’m so inspired by the people coming back to wrestling and the more I think about it, I’m like, ‘Okay, mentally, I’m ready to go.’ I’m going to start working around, getting in the ring a little bit. Maybe. We’ll see. This is not saying I’m making a comeback tomorrow. It’s a long fucking road. I still have to get cleared by doctors, I have to get cleared by WWE. It’s such a big process, but emotionally, I’m ready. The past few months, I didn’t think I was emotionally ready, but no, I’m fucking ready to get back on the horse. Even if it takes me a year. One step at a time, build to it, that’s exactly what I’m doing. There’s a whole journey and it’s going to take some time.”
A succession of neck injuries forced Paige into retirement in 2018. After her retirement, she became SmackDown Live! General Manager and a panel member on WWE Backstage on Fox!
An in-ring return for Paige has been on the wishlist of fans ever since her wrestling career was cruelly taken away during her prime. But when Daniel Bryan and Edge returned to action from their respective career-ending neck injuries, many fans speculated about Paige’s potential return. Paige spoke about wanting to return to the ring earlier this year on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions.
The speculation comes as Paige also disclosed her contract status with WWE. On a recent Twitch stream, Paige revealed that she only has nine months remaining of her current WWE contract.
“My contract is up in June of next year. Who knows if they would want to give me a new contract? Who’s to say they would want to? If they did, I’d love to have Twitch as a part of the contract.”
It was originally reported by PWInser that Paige singing a four-year deal in 2019, which would end in 2023.
