ROH’s next event, Death Before Dishonor, is set to take place on July 23 and a women’s match has been added to the card.
The ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez will be defending her title against Serena Deeb. Martinez has been the undisputed champion since the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite where she defeated then-champion Deonna Purrazzo to unify her interim championship. She has successfully defended the gold four times against opponents such as Trish Adora, Hyan, Mazzerati, and Viva Van. All matches took place on AEW: Dark/Elevation.
Since her title defenses, Martinez has been teaming with Deeb. The veteran duo have a 5-0 record together as a team but their cockiness in their own abilities has gotten in the way of them being peaceful as a unit. On last week’s Rampage, after their victory, Deeb placed the champion into the Serenity Lock to send a loud message to the champ as she eyed up the championship belt.
The match between the two was confirmed on AEW’s Control Center
Deeb will be facing Anna Jay on this week’s Dynamite to take place on July 13.
